Chapter 4 - System Activate

On the morning of Colin's second day at Rinne Advanced School, he received a notification on his phone. It was a letter written by the vice-principal:

Dear Colin,

When we enrolled you to this school, we promised that we would provide you with 50 000 coins for outside school use and one weapon of your choice. Please head towards the school shop and I and the weapons master will meet you there. The 50 000 coins have been added to your banking account. I hope that you are enjoying your stay at our school!

-Vice Principal

After Colin finished reading the letter, he couldn't help but smile brightly. He was finally able to obtain his first weapon and now he was going to be rich as well! Still beaming with happiness he quickly started to run towards the school shop in the shopping wing of the huge school.

When he arrived, the vice principal and a man with a big, scruffy beard standing behind her. He looked like he had been through many adventures and fights. The long scar that streaked across his face and the eyepatch over his eye seemed to increase his fierce and courageous appearance by several levels. Colin immediately bowed to the vice principal and the weapons master, "Sorry for making you wait," he stammered looking at the two teachers in front of him.

"Please, come in and follow me to the weapon storage. You can keep any weapon you want!" The weapon master's rough voice came into Colin's ear. When he first walked in, it was like a normal retail store, but the further he walked the price and the quality of the items increased dramatically. Everything was priced with school coins and each one of the items had a description to it. There were also some useless items as well such as a stone that had been in a S-class feathered bear that cost 15,000 school coins. Its description said, "This stone was found in the stomach of a S-class feathered bear," and that was all.

But there were also many luxurious and useful items such as the time-travel watch which can teleport you five seconds back to where you were before. Obviously, the prices of these items were all incredibly high and even if a student spent a whole year non-stop grinding dungeons, it would not be possible to reach the price. Then there were even more expensive items that Colin could not even dream of because of their prices.

[Infinite Storage Spacial Ring]

Price = 1000001 school coins

[Glorious candy]

Price = 10000 school coins

[Death Revival Potion]

Price 100000000000000...

Colin's mouth gaped open when looking at the most expensive item, the potion. It could revive anyone that has passed away meaning that if Colin could buy it, he could save his father. His mother had told him that his father used to be a successful hunter until one day he died of an unknown accident. But the price was extremely high, a one followed by 100 zero digits. Insanity, but it did have the effects of reviving a dead person. On the information section, it said, "This item was brewed by the first headmaster of Rinne Advanced school and is the most powerful potion in the school. No one has ever been able to buy this potion yet!"

"Come on Colin, we don't have all day." The vice-principal rolled her eyes and snapped Colin back to reality from his daydream. "First, you need to own a weapon to even defeat dungeons!" Colin murmured a yes ma'am and continued walking down the hall towards the weapon storage room.

As he opened the door, he smelt a woody and dusty smell. Looking across the room, there was a bar-like counter and the weapons master was standing behind it. Colin looked around at all the weapons he could choose from Rifles, shotguns, swords, bows, spears and even hammers. He could choose any weapon from this huge variety of loot. He decided to go to the expensive section of the weapons. While he was walking down the aisle in the dagger section, he saw a black dagger, darker than the night and it had white speckles of light that looked like stars on the dagger's sharp tip. It was lying on the floor and looked like it was going to be taken away to put in the bin. "Doesn't matter I'll leave it be." Colin thought but a voice suddenly sounded in his head and he saw an image display in front of him.

{Almighty System Activated}

[Quest received - Starry Night Dagger]

[Take the dagger and use it as your weapon]

[Failure to complete the quest will result in death and destruction of the soul]

[Rewards: ???

Colin stared at the words in front of him, could it be that this dagger that lay on the ground was special in some way. Doesn't matter anyway, if I fail to complete this quest given by the... Almighty System, it will result in death and the destruction of the soul. That doesn't sound pleasant. Also a system as in the ones in the novels I read? Colin shivered at the thought of death but was quite happy that he had a system.

Not wanting to die, forever, he picked up the dagger and started to walk back towards the counter. Immediately, he felt the familiar feeling of the dagger and all the moves he could do with it. In other words, he had gained an instant amount of basic knowledge about the dagger and how to use it. This was because of his S-class skill, weapon mastery. He pressed on the Starry Night Dagger in his system storage space and some information about the weapon appeared on the screen in front of him.

{Starry Night Dagger}

[Description - This dagger was forged by the mysterious night tribe, it was found when humans raided one of their hideouts. Previously no one has known anything about this weapon and it seems normal.]

[Class : S]

[Element : Dark]

***SOUL WEAPON***

S-class! Colin was frozen in amazement, what was his luck. First a system, then a godly dagger comes out of nowhere. This was too much. Also, the fact that it was an elemental weapon was also very surprising. "What is a soul weapon," he asked the system in his head curiously.

"Soul weapons are mysterious weapons that were forged by the elemental gods, they have the ability to grow and rank up. Even I, the almighty system does not know much about soul weapons, you will have to figure them out yourself. All I can tell you is that each and every one of them has a special skill that is awaiting for you to be unlock them!"

"Sheesh, you brag so much."

"Warning, do not be rude to the system. If you get three warnings, you will lose half of your school coins."

"Are you sure... Well doesn't matter, but I must find out what this soul weapon is about and what its special skill is!" Colin murmured as he walked to the counter.

"Are you sure you want to choose this dagger? It was just about to be incinerated?" The weapon master asked Colin with a weird look on his face. The weapon master knew that this dagger was mysterious but he could not find anything special about it nor could any other teacher in the whole school. But the student in front of him seemed so sure that he was going to choose this dagger. "You can choose any weapon, even the most expensive ones, why this one?"

"Sorry, I cannot tell you that but I can tell you that I have a gut feeling that tells me this weapon is more than you think it is. Anyways, thank you for the help, I am very grateful for it!" Colin quickly turned and rushed out of the door thanking the weapon master for his kindness. He wanted to try out his new weapon and try to find the skill in the training room tomorrow.

"What a weird but bright kid!" The weapon master smiled while shaking his head at Colin's fading back.
