The Land of the Wolves, officially known as the Kingdom of the Howling Fang, was a small kingdom, relative to the forces that it neighboured. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the entire country was a large valley that was akin to a natural fortress. And in the million years the kingdom had existed, this fortress had never been breached a single time.
This was because of a few reasons. Getting through the mountains with a large army was virtually impossible but even just getting in a position where such a thing could be attempted was a diplomatic nightmare. Not only was the Howling Fang surrounded by mountains, it was also surrounded by several large and powerful empires who definitely wouldn't allow the armies of another force to march through their lands.
