The sun that was just rising had already started dipping below the horizon, filling the sky with an orange glow. The rapid approach of winter meant that days no longer lasted as long as they used to, but it still lasted about 6 to 8 hours.
During this entire time, Yun Lei had been walking non-stop. He was still not in the best of conditions, so he hadn't been travelling as fast as he could have, but he had still covered quite a large distance. However, no matter how much he walked, the landscape of the forest did not change a single bit: it showed no signs of the trees thinning out and there was no indication that he was actually getting closer to the edge.
"We must be quite deep in." He finally concluded the obvious.
"This forest is weird. I can't feel any life forms around." Hunlang Zhenzhen spoke while looking around.
"That's normal for this place. I've never seen any animals here. Even horses refuse to enter this forest, apparently."
