It was a fundamental law of nature that any being of higher order possessed the ability to influence and suppress beings in a lower order than them. A good demonstration of this law was the difference between prey and predators. The mere presence of a predator could cause every single one of a prey's instincts to fire as its body would prepare to flee for its life, regardless of choice or active input. No matter what the prey did, this law could not be circumvented, it simply was the way existence functioned.
