Pain was a strange sensation for Yun Lei. Most of the time, he didn't even feel it. His mind would have to actively remind him that something was painful, lest he harmed himself. Even something like placing his hand directly in an open flame would only cause him to feel a mild numbness.
He speculated that the reason for this was his damaged soul and the pain he experienced due to the Soul Shredding Poison but he couldn't determine the cause with certainty. Whatever the cause was, his inability to feel pain meant that any amount of pain that he did feel tended to shock him greatly. Exactly the kind of shock he was currently experiencing.
Yun Lei woke up with his body aching all over. He could barely move and even breathing was difficult. After opening his eyelids, the first thing that appeared in front of him was a poorly dressed woman with large bags under her eyes.
