For several long seconds, Yun Lei stayed still, the gears in his mind whirring nonstop. In hindsight, the Royal Tutor's words were obvious; they should have been. However, because he had gotten to obsessed with the idea of ripples that he hadn't even considered the lake itself. It was such a simple idea yet it had eluded him because of his lack of understanding.
It was a valuable moment of humility for him. Because of his memory and his study of all the books in the Yun Library and more, he had so much knowledge in his head that he could be deemed an expert in countless fields. But knowing the theory and putting it into practice were entirely different things. Often, his sheer intellect was enough to overcome the barrier of execution, so this fact was easy for him to forget. In the end, it was only natural that his brute force method would fall short in front of the elegant execution of someone who truly understood the subject matter thoroughly.
