Yun Lei's movement was swift and ruthless. Stepping out of the way of the kobold's attack, he deftly got through its guard and delivered a devastating strike, intending to behead it in one swing. However, things did not go as planned. Even though his sword connected where he intended, it only dug in about half an inch into the creature's neck and failed to cut through.
Knowing that a counterattack would soon come, he hurriedly backed off, shocked at what had just happened. He had undoubtably used enough force to slice through the neck of even bigger advanced rank beasts. His mind couldn't comprehend how he could have possibly failed at such a simple task.
And at that moment, he didn't exactly have the time to think of the reasons. Although the wound was nowhere even close to being fatal, the kobold was bleeding quite heavily, and it was in no doubt a lot of pain; pain that caused its pitch-black eyes to fill up with not just hunger but also rage.
