Chereads / Destined Immortal Love: Until I Reach Your Heart / Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Unexpected Visitor

Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Unexpected Visitor

Jane brought her siblings inside the house since it was starting to rain.

Now that they had taken her mom, she knew that Mrs. Sanchez was in danger.

Who knew if Mrs. Sanchez would really be brought to prison immediately or she would be brought to Mr. Sandoval's side.

Jane ushered Anton and Naomi to sit on the sofa. Afterwards, she went to the kitchen to give them both a glass of water.

"Ate, what should we do?" Naomi asked her again in a shaky tone after crying for so long.

"Don't worry. Ate have a plan." She said even if she was unsure if her plan would still work.

Jane patted her sibling's head and then she left them in the living room to go to her room.

She wanted to see if the money she had made so far would be enough to cover up the losses they got today.

And also, if she could gather the said money after two weeks.

Jane still had to repay back those customers whose orders were canceled and were delayed today.

She knew their business was beyond redemption especially if news about their family as illegal drug users would be brought up in the news and online.

Who would want to still buy products from a store with tarnished reputation, right?

No one.

Jane shoulders dropped when she saw that the money she made were not enough and the money in the bank were only one million peso.

At the same time, all of her trades were suffering a loss.

Of all the days that fate wanted to mess with her, it sure chose this day.

Jane decided to stop trading so she won't suffer more losses.

Jane looked at her phone.

She had decided to charge since the screen turned black.

Jane then threw herself on the bed and she placed both of her palms over her face.

For the first time, Violet in Jane's body became hopeless.

If only she was more knowledgeable of this world now, maybe things won't be this tough for her and her family.

She vowed to protect this family in Jane's behalf but why did all her plans didn't work.

"Should I ask for help then?" She mumbled.

There's only one person she could immediately think of however, she was hesitant to ask any help from the man.

She didn't want to owe anything from him.

But he might be their last hope.

No matter how she wanted to skin the man alive or turn him into a rat with magic, if only she could, she dared not to act recklessly to make things worse.

After all, this world worked using money as their source of power. The place she was in was a money driven society.

Jane was still contemplating whether she should call Edric or not when Naomi barged in her room crying.

"What's wrong?" She asked in a worried tone.

"Ate! Mama's in the news!"

Jane walked out of her room and ran towards the living room to watch the hotest news on the TV.

Jane clenched her fist while watching the TV.

She really could not believe that they would report this to the media.

Mr. Sandoval was really cruel.

He really wanted to ruin their entire family.

They were done for.

Jane was very angry that she walked out of their house. She wanted to release some steam.

Jane ran outside without any idea where she was heading to.

She even ignored the fact that it was already pouring hard.

She heard Naomi and Anton's worried call but she ignored them.

She was so angry that she felt like her body would explode.

Jane didn't realize that she was already far from their house.

She had no idea where she was already.

All she could see were some big trees hovering the bushes on the road side.

The rain had also stopped pouring and what was left were dew on the leaves and a muddy and wet asphalt road.

The skies were starting to change as the sun hidden behind the rain clouds earlier was about to set.

Jane could hear the sound of waves nearby and so she searched for it until she reached the sea side.

Jane was greeted by a gloomy sunset instead of a usual breath taking one.

She found herself sitting on the sand and while looking at the waves hitting near her feet.

Jane yelled her heart out to release the anger and frustration she had in her heart. She didn't care if others would hear her.

She stayed there until she saw the moon rising on the horizon replacing the sun.

The moon shone so brightly that Jane could see its reflection on the waters below making it sparkles.

She could hear the crickets and other insects nearby together with the sound of the waves as it hit the shore.

It was peaceful and silent, in contrast to what she was feeling inside her.

The scene in front of her was breathtakingly beautiful. However, she could not appreciate the beauty because her mind was messy.

She didn't even realize that tears were already staining her face for quite some time.

Her clothes dried up on her body, all thanks to the winds hitting around her.

A bug kissed Jane's face and in reflex, she touched her sticky face.

Her eyes widened in shock when she realized her make up must had been washed away by the rain.

Jane sighed as there's nothing she could do anymore but to wash the remaining make up on her face.

Jane got up and washed her face with the salty water. She didn't know if the salty water had completely removed them but she didn't mind.

She made sure that her face was clean before she decided to go back.

She was about to walk towards the highway when a group of five men stopped her on her tracks.

Little did Jane know that they were drinking nearby and when she screamed, it caught their attention.

Jane felt disgusted upon looking at their faces which were full of malice and lust.

"Oh my! What a beautiful fairy!" One of them said.

"Right!"

"Oho! Seems like we will have a happy night tonight!" Another one chimed in with a chuckle.

"Hey! Don't scare the fairy! We still want her to join us, right?"

"Right! Miss, seems like you're upset with something. Do you want to join us? You know, loosening up a little."

"Yeah! Happy-happy!"

With the way they talked she could smell alcohol from their mouth.

They really expected that Jane would yell in fear and would cry for help. On contrary, she was calm.

"Hey! Don't scare the young lady!"

The first man paused and was about to place his hand over her shoulder when Jane grabbed the man's arm and in a blink of an eye, she twisted it broken.

The man screamed in pain and cursed Jane.

"Don't you dare touch me." She said calmly.

Everyone was stunned seeing what happened.

They really didn't expect that someone innocent looking could do something violent.

Jane ignored their stunned faces and decided to leave the place immediately.

She didn't want to stain her hands with their blood.

She could literally kill them. Yet, she didn't want to.

She didn't have to.

Jane was already ten steps away from them when she heard a hurried steps behind her.

Before the man could even attack her, the mysterious man, Edward, who saved her earlier appeared again and stopped the man's hand.

"Hello Young Miss!" He greeted her with a smile.

"It''s you again." Jane commented.

"Who the hell are you?! Stop meddling in our business will you?!" The man whose hand Edward was holding roared in anger.

Edward harshly released the man's hand and he was thrown away in a distance.

"Don't kill them. I don't want their families to be sad." She immediately said after realizing the man's abilities.

"As you wish, Young Miss."

Jane watched when Edward waived his hand and knocked them down on the ground, unconscious.

"Who exactly are you?" She asked him again.

"A good samaritan, maybe?"

"Are you telling me that you just happened to be on the same place and time when I'm in trouble?" Jane asked with a scoff.

"You could say that." He playfully answered.

"Liar." Jane mumbled.

And Edward chuckled in response.

"I'm sorry. Come. I'll take you home." He gestured his hand telling her to go first and he would come after.

"You sound as if you're a gentleman." Jane commented again.

However, Jane crossed her arms over her chest and stubbornly pointed out.

"No thanks. I reached this place without anyone's help so I know how to go home myself."

"Oh yes. You did. However, would you like other people to see you like this?"

Jane thought that he meant her wet appearance. But then she realized, he was talking about her bare face.

"How did you--"

Edward waved his hand to dismiss whatever Jane wanted to say at the same time avoiding not to touch her.

"Don't get me wrong. Actually, I knew it was you when I saw your back even under the moonlight. And besides, you haven't changed your clothes since earlier." Edward said in one breathing.

He was hoping that Jane would believe him.

He then gulped his saliva and then continued.

"When I saw your face tonight that's when I realize that you're wearing make up earlier. Who would want to alter her appearance completely? Unless this person didn't want to reveal the 'real self' to everyone? You're that person right?"

'*Phew!*'

Seeing that Jane seemed convinced, he heaved a sigh of relief. He really thought he was in trouble. He almost slipped.

Jane looked away because she could not deny what he said.

"Fine."

Jane had no other choice. It was still so early and many motorist were still passing the street.

She didn't know how far she still had to walk to reach their house.

Edward smiled and then asked her to take the lead.

Jane was surprised to know that she ran quite far.

When they were already by the gate of the house, Jane turned around to see Edward's face.

"I'm here. Do you want to have dinner with us?"

"No need. I'm not hungry."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure. And besides, I'm sure this Young Miss knew what I am. There's no need for me to eat."

Edward didn't wait for her response. He then flicked his fingers and disappeared in thin air.

However, she could still hear his voice lingering.

"Young Miss, stay away from trouble." 'The Master will be worried.' Jane didn't hear the latter part.

Jane then hurriedly went inside of the house but then when she entered, the lights were on yet it was empty.

"Anton! Naomi!" She called for their names but no one answered.

Jane went to the kitchen hoping to see them there but there's no one but a cooked rice in the rice cooker and chopped onions and garlic with the meat left in the strainer by the sink.

Not even a single ghost could be seen inside the house.

Jane felt like her heart was inside her throat when reality struck her.

Her siblings were missing and she could only blame herself for that if something bad happened to them in her absence.

She left them alone in the house when it was not safe.

But then, before she could even start panicking, Jane heard hurried footsteps and noise in the living room.

So she went and checked it out when...

"Ate?!" Her siblings greeted her with tear stained faces.

"Naomi! Anton!"

They both rushed towards her and she then hugged them tightly.

They cried in in relief when they saw that she's actually fine. They're actually fine.

"It's fine." She said while wiping away the tears of relief on her face.

Little did Jane know that someone was actually standing by the door frame looking at them. He was dressed in his grey suit with a grey polka dot tie and his black leather shoes.

"Ahem!" The man cleared his throat making Jane to look up.

When she saw who it was, Jane covered her face by instinct.

"Oh! Ate, while we're looking for you, we met him on the street. He said he is your friend. Is it true?" Anton then looked at him with how an overprotective brother would do to any stranger man.

The little man was acting tough even if he felt intimidated with the man's aura.

"Ate, why are you covering your face with your hand?" Naomi then leaned forward to whisper at her, "It's too late. He saw your face already."

Jane's hands fell down immediately when she heard that.

It's pointless covering her face when he already saw it.

And besides, there's no point of telling a lie.

"Mr. McWilliams."

Edric suddenly felt uncomfortable hearing how she addressed him with formality.

"Jane."

"Ate, is he really your friend? He's handsome. You looked good together, though." Naomi said which earned a glare from her brother.

Seems like the little sis was fond of Edric.

Naomi and Anton waited for her answer.

"Yes, we are friends. Your sister must be shocked to see me here." Edric suddenly answered to break the awkward silence while Jane only nodded a little bit in confirmation.

"Ahm. Anton, Naomi...please go to your rooms first. Okay?"

Though hesitant, they both agreed to leave them alone.

Jane cleared her throat to ease down the awkwardness around them.

"I didn't expect that you'd be coming here Mr. McWilliams. I'm sorry if our small house is a little messy. Come. Please take a seat."

Edric looked at the sofa and then he sat on it.

"Would you like to have some juice? Coffee? Tea? I'm going to get you some." Jane offered like how a good host would do.

"Juice will do." He responded.

"Okay. Please stay here for a while.

Jane then left to the kitchen to prepare some juice and a slice of pie.

When she got there, she saw Anton cooking for their dinner.

"I'm sorry I could not help you with that, buddy."

"It's okay, Ate. Go and entertain your guest first." Anton said while stirring the pot of beef stew that he was making.

There's a hint of sibling type of jealousy in how he said that which sounded cute and adorable.

"Ay sus! Fine. I'll go out now then." She said while bringing the tray on her hand.

When she came out, Jane saw Edric looking at her.

"Ahm. Here." She said while placing the glass of cold juice and the pie in front of him.

"Dinner will be served soon. Let's eat dinner here for tonight. Okay?" Jane suddenly felt conscious especially when Edric was looking at her.

"Sure. No problem. Thank you for this."

"You're welcome."

He then took a sip of the juice and took a bite of the pie.

"If you're uncomfortable meeting me with bare face, you may go to your room and wear that usual disguise." He said after gulping the food in his mouth.

"Wait, how did--"

"It doesn't matter. I just know that it's the case." He answered through telepathy.

"Oh."

"Why are you here? I thought you're still overseas?" She asked changing the topic.

"I just safely landed. Thank you for asking." 'After I read your messages in my phone, I decided to land here directly instead.' But he didn't let her hear the last statement.

Then, Edric's expression changed while looking at her.

"Why are you quitting?"
