Chereads / ATOHMMA / Chapter 6 - Chapter Five

Chapter 6 - Chapter Five

She was singing and skipping her way to the baker when she saw a unicorn seemingly hurt by the river. There he was, or she, on the ground making a shrieking sound and in some kind of disadvantage. So Atohmma went to see what she can do to help. "What's the matter, are you hurt?" she rhetorically asked as she inspected the marvellous creature before her. When she circled it, she realized that it was fat in the stomach area, seemingly pregnant. So she quickly placed her hands to her mouth, surprised, and then she used her other hand to stroke its' head. "There, there now, I'm not sure what to do, so I'll go get you some help," she said sympathetically. As she was walking away, she thought to herself, "if only it could speak, then I would know for certain what the matter was, and maybe there was something I can do right away." As she was about to jump over the log in her path, she heard something say, "My leg is hurt, I think it's broken or hurt somehow, I'm not sure but, I cannot seem to stand up!" Atohmma froze, and as she slowly turned around, she scanned her surroundings to see who spoke. So she looked at the unicorn after seeing only her, right there watching her. So she tilted her head right and then left as though she was trying to make sense of her confusion, so she asked, "did you just say something? I mean, did you just talk to me?" she asked with one raised eyebrow as she tripped on a stone in her path. "Be careful, or there will be two of us laying here hurt." said the voice and as Atohmma raised her head, she realized it was the unicorn speaking to her. "Yes, it's me, I am speaking to you, my name is Windsong, and I am pregnant, but I hurt my leg while running that way. I was on my way back to the others, over the pasture lands, behind the magic fence." With that, Atohmma found her feet and got up swiftly, dusted her hands on her clothes, and walked briskly toward her amazement. She smiled and went to check the leg of the hurt creature, as she also tried to make sense of having been able to hear it speak. Never before did they speak, and those creatures, grew, lived, and thrived among them, some were their pets. So she continued to check the leg and she saw a splint or thorn-like metal stuck in its hooves and she needed to get it out. So she looked around and couldn't find anything to take it out, and thought to herself, "there must be something around here I can use to get that out!" As she turned, she saw something on the ground reflecting light, across from the tree and she decided to walk across and have a look. There she found a piece of metal with a pointed edge and she picked it up and decided to use it. In little to no time she managed to get out the thorn and the unicorn was alright and able to stand up. It limped around a bit and then, said to Atohmma, "thank you, I should be going now." Atohmma replied, "be on your way, it was my pleasure." She patted its back and it took off for home, as Atohmma stood there amazed at it all and yet clueless about the part she played in it.

Amazed at the incident and the creature, she just shook her head in pleasure and continued and sat there a while. She thought about how free and unbothered those creatures seemed. She knew there were more, but she had no idea, how they lived, what their home looked like, and if they really were magical. She just allowed herself to look at her surroundings, the beauty of their world, despite the fogginess and the cold. she knew there would be areas of warmth and beauty that were probably unexplored.
