Chapter 4 - The Man and his Van

5:51 am – We arrive at the parking lot. It was packed full of cars belonging to the escapees, ranging from old F●rd's to expensive L●mb●'s. We notice a figure waving at us from somewhere near the back. It was holding a torch and signalling for us to come closer.

"That's him" Joey said.

Eventually, we got close enough to see everything properly. The man was leaning against the back of a van, pointing a torch directly at the car in front of him.

"Glad you could make it." The man says smugly, his grin as wide as ever.

Ellie whispers to Joey "Are you sure we can trust this guy?"

Joey shakes his head. "No, but it's our only chance of getting far enough away."

"Alright, everyone is here now." The man exclaimed.

I was wondering where the other people were until the suddenly emerged from besides the van. 5 people appeared. A mother, probably in her 30's, and her two kids who looked 7 or 8. There was a boy by himself, no older than 11, and a girl who looked slightly older than us.

"Congratulations on making it on time! Y'know I was certain that I'd have to abandon one of you." The man says laughing.

"I though no one else was coming." The girl sudden decision to speak caught me off guard.

"So why are these things here?" She's pointing at us. Her face full of disgust and anger.

The man looked at her, his smile widening even further. "Well, they needed help getting out of town, so I just asked them if they wanted to tag along."

"Now then…" He turned to us and started approaching us.

He closely inspects our faces as if we are transported goods, then finally. He turns back around quickly and starts shouting.

"Ok, everyone put your stuff in the van and let's go!"

We put our stuff inside the van and get in as instructed. Ellie was trying her hardest to keep calm, but I could tell she was shaking like crazy. Joey could tell too because he immediately sat in between her and me.

The entire time the girls is staring daggers at us. If looks could kill, we would have been hung drawn and quartered at least 100 times.

"You guys ready back there?"

"Yea" I reply

"Ok then, let's go!"

At this moment, we didn't know; We didn't know that from this moment on. Our lives would be living hell…
