It was the third day of my coronation as queen of Darca and I was already falling in love with my vampire husband. I tried to avoid him as much as I could because I didn't want him to find out about my emotions but then again, I could see the signs that he too had fallen for me. The palace was now lively and an exciting place for me to live in. My husband has employed more servants to serve me and now I had the right to move around the kingdom.
I was in my room that very night, I was actually in the bathroom inside my bathtub having my bath, Kahlan had gone to collect more scented rose petals for my bath. I heard someone walk into the room, I called out to Kahlan but nobody answered me so I thought I imagined it.
I waited in the bathtub for moments but Kahlan did not return so I decided to bath without the scented rose petals. I had my bath and Walked into my room pulling over just a very transparent robe.
I had pulled it off when I turned on the lights to see lord Torren lying on my bed. I got scared. What did he want?
''Good evening my lord, you would have sent for me if you wanted to see me'' I said trying to put my robe back on but Torren already stood to his feet and held it back.
''There is no need for that my lady. You are my wife'' he smiled deviously and then covered my body with the robe. ''You are quite the shy type I guess''
I did not know how to respond to Torren, ''you scared me. I had no idea anyone was in here''
''You have been avoiding me and I couldn't think of a much better way to get to you than this way'' he said caressing my lips.
''Kahlan will be in here any moment my lord'' I was getting hot under very cold weather.
''Shhhh, she won't. I already sent her away queen Diana. I think it's about time we consummate our marriage'' as he said it, his hands slipped into my robe to caress my naked body. I quickly took his hands off me and ran back into the bathroom and banged the door behind me. My heart was beating so fast. I had not imagined Torren would want to consummate our marriage anytime soon. I had always thought of him as a vampire without emotions.
I stayed back in the bathroom and waited for him to leave but he didn't. After a few minutes I thought he was gone when I called out to him and got no response so I quietly sneaked out of the bathroom, I didn't see him and so I believed he was gone and sneaked up to lock my door. I locked my door only for me to turn around and see Torren standing right behind me.
''Are you bothered someone might see us? I already told you I sent Kahlan away'' Torren still had that devious smirk on his lips.
''See us doing what'' I asked trying to deny knowledge of what he was saying.
''Do you want us to live on like this my dear wife'' as he said it he raised my right hand and gently kissed me on the back of my palm. That kiss sent strange feelings to my body. I stood there looking at him, he had locked the bathroom so I had no escaping now. I wondered what Torren was going to do to me now that he had me trapped, was he going to make love to me or suck my blood. I wondered.
Torren turned around I walked to the bed then lay down on the bed. ''Come to bed my dear wife'' he said patting the space on the bed next to him. Was he going to sleep in my room?. I slowly got to the bed and lay down next to him but not facing him. I only obeyed him so he wouldn't suck my blood or force himself on me.
''You go out every night Torren, have you nowhere to be this night?'' I asked though with a little regret for asking him that.
''Are you asking your husband out of your room my lady? don't you think it's rude?'' He asked raising his head to look at my face.
''I am sorry'' that was the only thing I could say at that point. I was still not facing him.
''It's okay dear wife, I am equally scared of making love to you''. I think he said that to see my reaction. I smiled knowing he was probably making it up.
''Now, come let us sleep my queen, we have somewhere to be tomorrow'' he said pulling me into his embrace. I had so many questions I couldn't ask and so many words I left unsaid. They only remained in my mind hoping to be let out someday. But that night, I had the best sleep of my life.
The next morning, someone tapped me to wake up.
''My lady it's dawn already you have to wake up''.
I opened my eyes to see Kahlan. Torren was not in my room anymore.
''Where is lord Torren?'' I asked Kahlan.
''Waiting for you my lady. He requests to have breakfast with you if you don't mind''
I don't mind I would love that but then all this attention to me was getting me worried.
''I will, tell him I will be with him in a short time'' I instructed Kahlan.
Kahlan had my bathing water ready and I took my bath as quickly as possible so I could be with Torren. I was eager to set my eyes on his beautiful face.
In a short while, I was out of the bathroom and Kahlan had dressed me beautifully for the day. Kahlan always knew how to make a woman look irresistible.
I walked into the dining room where Torren was sitting waiting for me. He did not take his eyes off me until I took my seat adjacent to his.
''You look beautiful my love'' he said still gazing at me with a feeling of maybe admiration. His compliment didn't matter to me. What mattered to me at that point was the title he used, my love. I smiled in acceptance of the compliment without a word.
I noticed Torrens plate was empty while mine had different dishes.
''Couldn't you wait for me before eating?''
''I don't eat''. His reply came as quickly as a Sharp cough. I stared at him trying to comprehend what he just said.
''Have you never had anything to eat besides drink only blood,?'' This question came out as gently as possible. Torren did not answer that question, rather he looked away. I slowly brought up some vegetables in my fork to his mouth ''if you can't stand the taste, I promise never to ask you about your meals again''.
Torren stared at me for some moment before he finally accepted my meal offer. His expression while he ate it was not discouraging so I went on to make him eat even sausages. Torren and I took turns feeding each other until we were full.
''Thank you Diana'' he said with a charming smile and I nodded.
''Now, prepare my lady, I told you we have somewhere to be today''.
Where could Torren be taking me to? I wondered.
