When Sakimi and I woke up the next morning, there were even more cases of red-eye disease. Luckily, the boat should be arriving at Puratorius later tonight.
Still, it was naive of me to think that simply waiting could solve everything.
As Sakimi and I walked up the stairs to the top deck, we came across a crowd of panicked passengers who seemed to be surrounding something on the floor.
"What the—" Sakimi muttered.
We pushed through the people until we could get a clear view of the oddity.
Sakimi held in her puke as she said, "It's a...dead body."
The two of us weren't strangers to death, but this corpse looked like it had just been put through a meat grinder. Its lower half was mush, its face was caved in, and chunks of flesh lay scattered around it.
"This isn't a normal death," Amaranth said.
