The morning after Marigold's fight against Romero, she visited Vortigern's grave and kneeled in front of it.
"Vortigern, can you hear me? Are you resting peacefully? I was so close to getting my revenge. Only a little more, and I could have killed Romero for you. But I didn't enjoy it. When I tortured Romero, it felt like I was torturing myself, as well.
"Am I crazy? I must be crazy, right? It's only natural to do unto others as they have done to you. Aren't I justified in my revenge? Or am I just as guilty as Romero? Will I also have to be punished?"
Silence.
It was only natural since a grave couldn't give answers.
And yet, Marigold found solace in that unforgiving, merciless nothingness.
"Are you feeling better?" Sakimi asked, sneaking up on Marigold, who flinched.
Sakimi let out a short laugh.
"Yes, I'm calmed down a bit," Marigold replied.
