Allow me to ask you a question: Why do people read stories?
It doesn't just have to be reading; this question also includes TV shows, movies, plays, and any other medium of story.
As Aristotle once said, "When storytelling goes bad in society, the result is decadence."
Furthermore, Plato remarked that "Storytellers rule society."
As someone who constantly engulfs swaths of stories from multiple mediums, I asked myself the question: What was the point of it all?
Is it because of escapism?
Is it for a vicarious experience?
Or is it could it be as simple as plain entertainment?
From an outside perspective, stories are a strange thing, but it's what makes humans into humans.
And so, why do people so desperately enjoy stories?
My conclusion is the human drive for danger. I shall call it the "Ei."
