Tap, tap, swipe, tap… A soft thumb slowly danced on the smartphone's screen.
It was 8:37 AM and Razen was busily reading on his smartphone. A moment later, he muttered a few words and sighed as if he has suddenly lost a friend. "The end…"
He couldn't help but feel sad as he stared at the bright screen while reading a 'postscript' from the author of the novel he has just finished. When a good story ends, it's common among readers to feel a bit sad.
Razen rose from his bed and stretched his body. He has been reading the novel since early in the morning and now it was finally done. He immediately left the bedroom and went to the washroom to wash his face. Due to him being alone, the house was always quiet.
Razen was an only son and his parents has been working overseas since he completed junior high school a year and a half ago. They rarely go home, and its only during special occasions of the year. Although Razen still has a younger sister, she usually stays at her best friend's house. Razen also does not have many close friends so, he can only be lonely without his hobbies.
When he came he came back to the living room, a commotion from the neighborhood suddenly caught his attention. The streets has suddenly become noisy.
'What is happening?' Razen got curious and gazed through the window. He immediately noticed that outside become strangely brighter than before, as if the entire bright blue sky was glowing.
He hurriedly went out of the house to see what was happening. But when he got out, he suddenly noticed his entire body being engulfed with a bluish while light. He had no clue of what was happening so he turned nervous. Nothing has changed from his body though, except he felt himself getting much lighter than before.
"What the hell is happening?" he looked at his glowing hands, still wide-eyed.
Turning his attention to the entire neighborhood, Razen soon found out that it was not only him who was experiencing it. He witnessed a lot of kids and adults on the street who were also covered with the same colored light. Many people has already come out of their houses at this moment, but not all of them has the bluish white light shining around their body.
Everyone stood outside their house, looking around and asking each other curiously about what was happening amidst the confusion. Whilst, some of them paid attention to the wierd-looking sky.
Strangely, the blue sky that stretches to all the horizons has actually became too bright at this moment. Apart from that, bright blue light rays also appeared, hitting many places on the surface of the Earth. But a few minutes later, they all slowly faded. The entire sky also gradually recovered to normal soon afterwards. No one understood everything that happened.
The bluish white light around Razen and everyone else also disappeared quietly without explanation, the same way as when it appeared.
Razen hurriedly checked for any change in his body. Strangely, aside from discovering that his body has become lighter, he also felt as if his skin has become thicker and harder. The sensation was like his entire skin being slightly numb. When he tried to pinch himself, he was astonished to discover that although he felt it clearly, there was no pain. "What just happened?"
Out of curiosity, he asked his neighbors if they also felt the change and the answer was "yes." Indeed, it was not only him who felt his own body was strange.

"At exactly 8:40 AM today, a never-before seen global phenomenon has occurred in the planet. Recently, the world government has decided to call this the "Blue-Sky Ray" phenomenon. Meanwhile, there seemed no explanation to this occurrence..."
"Flash report: An entire neighborhood in Loriga village was caught on fire. How the fire started is still unclear, but a 15-year-old boy has recently claimed that he was the cause of the fire. The boy said he was suddenly 'able to create and control fire?' The fire was successfully killed this 11:30 AM. No one died but three people were injured in the accident…"
"An update on the Blue-Sky Ray event, a video was released from the Department of Natural Science this 1:30 PM. They claimed that the planet seemed to have undergone an evolution which currently has no explanation. They also claimed that the sudden appearance of multiple 'unnatural, accidents is related to this… 'it seems like the Blue-Sky Ray event has granted many people on Earth a special ability, some sort of superpowers. The inability to control these special abilities has led to many unprecedented disasters occurring everywhere around the globe as I speak,' said Director John D. Alvares from the Department of Natural Science…"
After the occurrence of unexplainable "Sky-Blue Ray" phenomenon, the news on the media suddenly exploded. There was a world-wide commotion and many people voiced out their opinions. Many people were asking for explanations. At this moment, the Sky-Blue Ray event become the most searched keyword on every search engine operating on the web.
Meanwhile, the governments all over the world are trying their best to control the entire situation. They believed that the situation of the world will inevitably get dire, and if not handled early, it will be even more difficult.
Many people have different views to the point that they can't stay close to each other. Now that many people suddenly have acquired extraordinary abilities, they will have more confidence to achieve their goals, and they will have more ability to get rid of their enemies. The rise of rebellions, increase of crimes, and start of chaos are all possibilities in the near future. Thus, the governments immediately busied themselves as soon as the discovery about many people gaining special powers after the Blue-Sky Ray event came out.
At this moment, Razen only found out about news. He initially didn't believe it but he was soon shocked and didn't have any choice but to believe. It was because he found out that the claims in the internet were actually true, and that many people now has their own 'super abilities.' He didn't learn about it on his own though. He found out because his classmates were excitedly discussing it on the FB Messenger chat group. All his classmates now actually have 'superpowers?'
Razen couldn't believe his own eyes. He even slapped his own face thrice in case he is dreaming, but he didn't wake up. That means everything that has happened was real! 'How is such thing possible?'
He continued reading his classmate's messages on the chat group silently. Remembering their least visible classmate, they also asked Razen if he also got a 'super ability.' But he didn't know how to answer them.
While in the middle of pondering, the bell of his Messenger app rang once again. It was a message from the chat group.
[Redfire Emperor: "@Razen I wonder if 'the kitten' also has a superpower. Hahaha…"]
"Tak, Tak, Tak…" Many of Razen's classmates immediately reacted with 'haha' on the message from Redfire Emperor.
"Redfire Emperor" was the new nickname of the most popular person among his classmates after acquiring a superpower. The guy often calls Razen by "kitten" which secretly annoys him most of the time. Razen was no different than a loser among his classmates since the earlier grade-levels, so he was usually a subject for teasing among his classmates. Fortunately, there were no 'real' bullies among his classmates. They only sometimes make jokes on him and make everyone laugh.
[Fairy Lady: "@Razen Was your body covered in bluish white light during the Sky-Blue Ray event this morning?"]
Another person asked Razen. She was Lea, the kindest person among his classmates for him. She never once annoyed him and helped him many times in his school works instead, so he had the best impression of her.
"…it was," Razen replied.
"Tak, Tak, Tak…" 'Wow' reactions immediately came after his message.
'Does this mean I also have a superpower?' he suddenly thought. It seems like that bluish white light was the sign of obtaining a superpower. 'Then, what's my superpower?'
