Dissociative identity disorder or DID is a mental health condition. A person with DID has multiple and distinct personalities. Each identity controls the person's behavior at different times. The disorder can cause memory loss, delusions, or depression.
The identities have their own personal traits, history, likes, and dislikes. It can lead to gaps in memory and hallucinations, believing something is real when it isn't. Dissociative identity disorder used to be called multiple personality disorder or split personality disorder.
