Chapter 20 - Farewells

Melaina came down the stairs at a steady, yet hurried pace. "How are you feeling, Coy? Are you alright?" she asked in a worried voice as she grabbed Coy and examined him.

She had been restless the last few hours, and she would have already been gone dragging a doctor back home if Athan didn't stop her.

How heartless of him, 'Hmph!'

Athan looked at her amused. "Like I told you, it was not a big deal, and he is doing well as you can see, much better than before he was blessed."

Melaina who was hugging Coy said to the Athan, "You! Do you not love your son?! What if things went beyond your control?"

Coy and Athan just stayed quiet and didn't say anything else. Both had their own experiences in women, and at times like these, it was best to just let them be as they are. Granted, they will calm down afterward.

As Melaina was about to reprimand Athan even more, Caesy came back with Aelfryn and Luna into the hall. Aelfryn in particular was very close to Luna. Coy, who witnessed such a scene, was looking at Aelfryn strangely.

Aelfryn felt Coy's gaze, as he abruptly left Luna's side and headed to his master's. Now Caesy was between both.

Luna briskly asked Coy, "Before you leave, you owe me a promise, remember?"

Coy nodded. It was about the striped cat. Before he went to the ceremony, he had asked for Marie to help him with that. A day has passed, so Coy thought she might have finished her task.

"Ask Marie."

Luna brightened up when she heard that. Finally, Cherry will be in her embrace from now onwards and accompany her instead of her leaving brother… If she were to be true to her feelings, she was saddened by Coy leaving. Being the heir to the family had its restrictions, which limited Luna from doing a lot of things she yearned to do. She didn't want the family's reputation to be ruined because of her needs, such as going to the casino her friends talked about.

Unlike her mother who didn't care about such things, Luna desired to be a woman who wanted to keep the dignity of her family from being blemished.

"I assume you are ready, Coy? Be fast with your farewells, we have to take three stops before we head to the academy." Caesy said as she grabbed Aelfryn's shoulder and walked out of the castle.

Coy bobbed his head.

Looking at his newfound family in this world, Coy simply thought to himself, 'This is not a final farewell, more interactions will come.'

Luna was the first as she hugged him with little moist eyes, she whispered, "When you go there and train hard, don't get cocky and forget about the beatings I have subjected to you."

Coy sneered, as the previous him without memories would have done. "If you don't do the same, I might beat you when I come back."

Their hug was short before someone else hugged him. "Be careful out there, and don't bring more than two girls," Melaina joked to hide her feelings. A mother will always be a mother. To see her child go somewhere out of the continent where danger was ubiquitous in places you wouldn't expect, of course she would be worried.

Fortunately he was in good hands, otherwise she would have sent Marie with him and the Blake assassins… Now that she considered it, wouldn't that be a great idea? 'I have to discuss this with Athan later.'

Coy reciprocated her hug with a tighter one, "I'm not even planning on bringing a girl, mother. I'm going to miss you."

Melaina truly reminded him of his late mother, that was why he could behave like this without feeling she was a stranger. They let go of each other as she patted his head.

When it was Athan's turn, he just walked over to him and held his shoulder. "You have become mature, and that's a good thing. Remember my words back in my library a month ago?"

Hmm, "That my own strength defines who I am?"

Athan was surprised to see that he still remembered, he just asked in passing to once again remind him about. "Yes, only your strength defines who you are, but that phrase is not complete, do you know why?"

Athan liked to ask questions like these to make the person in question look for the answer to the question he asked themselves. They say that a man forges his own path, which is true, but without the Kindle to help him, there will be no path to forge. Just like a sword needs fire to take a shape.

Coy didn't have an idea, so he shook his head. "Reassured to see that you don't know, if you did, I would have thought you were an old man in a child's body, because this is learned through experience. The Complete phrase is, 'Only your strength and what you do with that strength defines who you are.'"

Coy just dodged a .50 cal in another world… Or fireball which was the equivalent of it.

Athan pulled out four items from his space ring. "The king has said good things about you and bestowed you these gifts to help you with any trouble you may encounter."

The items were a plain bracelet, a copper and silver rings, and a goatskin parchment paper that had a circle drawn on it with multiple complex shapes inside its center and runes on the edges.

Athan held the bracelet in front of Coy. "This bracelet may look old and useless, but it's an artifact that is inscribed with a tier 6 spell, poly-morph. It can help you take many forms that's limited to those with our body structure, like elves, humans, and demons; and it can change your heigh, hair, skin and eye colour. I don't know why the king gave you this, but use it carefully and don't make trouble with it. It can be used for 12 straight hours before it deactivates. The duration of its reactivation is 5 hours after its initial deactivation. To use it, you need to input your mana into it, which you know how to do. You can also activate it and deactivate it yourself, but the timer will start once you do the first activation and stack it up until it reaches 12 hours."

{How is it? This one is undeniably one that you can do whatever you want with it. Either it's causing distraction, or confusion. Thank the great me who got it for you! Hahahaha.}

Coy indeed could see unlimited potential from this artifact. Like Chóros said, he can create many different scenarios of chaos with it. He was now looking forward to the other ones.

Picking up the silver ring and the copper, Athan said in a bewildered tone, "I don't know what the king saw in you, but these two rings are also artifacts that will help you in different types of situations. The silver one can lets you cast a spell that's either from the wind, earth, fire, water, light, and darkness elements. The tier of the spell depends on your own magic rank. Since you are an apprentice, you can cast tier 1 spells. You can use it once a day, and to use it, you have to also input your mana into the ring and imagine the spell you want to use.

"While for this one, it is a one time use that can let you choose a weapon of your own choice, customised, and it can aid you until you reach the Enlightened Knight stage. These types of artifacts are extraordinarily limited, so don't tell anyone about them unless you trust them with your own life. As for this goatskin parchment paper, it has a 3 time use teleportation spell that can let you teleport a distance of 5 kilometres randomly in any direction. You just put mana to it if you want to use it."

Coy's heart was almost overwhelmed by all of these artifacts. If not for the king reading his memories, he would have become a fan of him.

Athan became quiet for a moment as he received a mental transmission from Caesy who told them to be quick.

After receiving the message, he pulled yet another ring, this one was a space ring. "This right here is filled with copper, silver, gold, and platinum coins. 100 thousand in copper, 50 thousand in silver, 25 thousand in gold, and a thousand in platinum. Use them as you wish, but don't abuse innocent people with them… I'm going to store the goatskin parchment into this for you."

Following his words, the goatskins disappeared from his hand.

{Your father is generous.}

Athan then looked at Coy in the eye, before hugging him gently. "I expect great things from you, farewell."

Coy was glad that he didn't judge this father of his as soon as his memories were unlocked. He nodded at his father and glanced at his mother and sister. 'So this is what mom anticipated when she married that piece of crap, not bad… If only she didn't end up with him.'

He wore the copper ring and bracelet on his right hand, and the other silver rings on his left. He finally beheld his family's faces before leaving the castle's door.

Waiting outside the dark night were Caesy, and Aelfryn who was smiling at him.

"Come close and hold my hand. You

might feel uncomfortable after we teleport, so brace yourself."

Coy did as he was told and held her left hand.

{I'm looking forward to your reaction after your first teleportation,} said Chóros with delight.

{What do you me—} as he was about to ask why, the trio disappeared from the moon castle.
