Chapter 4 - I was a wreck

The three looked at me surprised by the answer. And I, deep down, was trembling. I was trembling in fear that someone older, known to my parents, would hear and speak to them. My heartfelt like it would explode at any moment. It was all so sudden that I didn't even have time to think things through, except to think about whether someone would listen and go scattering in the corners. Taking a deep breath at that moment was almost impossible.

— Cristian... — Lupita threatened to step closer to me but stopped as I backed away once more.

I was ready to leave and face all that for the next day. Right then, for the first time in a long time, I was very angry and scared, and worried. I waved my hands in the air, shaking my head with my eyes closed, taking one step at a time back.

— Tomorrow we'll talk calmly or whatever — I said, turning away. — I'm leaving, let's all take this little time to think.

— Man, come back here — Diego yelled. — Let's talk more calmly.

— No, I do not want — I replied. — Let's just forget about it for two seconds, go home, and live normally.

That's what I said, pulling away little by little. I looked like I was going to explode any minute or second. My body throbbed heavily. I just threw the bag in a corner of the room at home and threw myself on the bed. Even my sister didn't want to bother me, it was like she could feel that I really was in another class of evil. I was really bad, tired and not knowing what to do with everything. It really had been something out of the blue. Not even Lupita and Diego expected things to evolve that fast. We went from zero to one hundred in a matter of milliseconds.

At night when my parents arrived, they wondered why I wasn't at the dinner table. My mom was the first to try to talk to me that day.

— Son, what happened? — She asked.

— Nothing, I just had a tiring day today

— Olivia told us she came home from school badly, did something happen today? — she said, patting my head.

— I swear nothing bad happened today mom — I said, looking at her.

— Alright, anything tell me — she got up, leaving the room.

That night I didn't sleep. I was tormented. he was even away from his cell phone.

The next day, when I looked in the mirror, I saw my deep, bruised dark circles. I was a wreck. Tired out. Dead. I couldn't even keep my train of thought on one thing for very long. I was distracted, absorbed in something. It was almost like I wasn't in me, but on another planet.

Looking at the cell phone and trying to understand what was on the screen was impossible. Everything was scrambled, leaving me more and more lost. I felt that sometimes he was squinting at the absurd sleep he was in, so I would blink long and then open my eyes. I did this several times.

— Diaz did you sleep well tonight? — the teacher approached as most of the students left for recess.

I thought a little. I was slow of thinking. Really too slow.

— Diaz, what happened? — she asked, trying to get attention.

— I don't know — she said, vaguely. Simple.

— Have problems with insomnia? — she tapped her fingernail on the table twice.

— Maybe, I think — and I kept answering simple.

She sighed in defeat.

— Diaz, do you want me to ask you to be released early? — She asked. — You can't stay here, I'm very worried about you.

— It is not necessary — I said getting up. I looked around a little. I was looking for something. — I'm fine, and it's not long before classes are over. I'll be fine.

— Right — She said.

I leave the room slowly. I went to the patio already thinking of somewhere to lie down and rest for as long as I had. It wouldn't be much, but it would be enough to help with dark circles and extreme sleep already.

— Cris!
