"Kyouko-san!"
'I NEED TO KNOW!'
My voice was deeper and harsher than usual. I didn't have any time for this stupid play she's putting upon. And even she got the memo. She stopped with her theatrics and settled down, and took a deep breath, and calmed herself down.
"Before I quench your thirst, tell me, why must I do as you say?"
"Why? Isn't it obvious? Hina's life is on the line. What else would be the reason?"
Sigh!
"Nao, who do you take me for?"
"Huh?"
"I may have not known you for a long time, but I do know this..."
She leaned in close towards me. I could smell her fragrance but that was all for a brief moment...for what she had whispered...
"You've never cared about anyone in your whole life. Not then, not now!"
There was silence filled in the room. My ears deafened for a moment. I couldn't hear a word anymore. I never thought I'd be understood so easily...but...Things are actually getting interesting!
Pfft! The cat's out of the bag now.
She leaned back to her usual seating position and carried on sipping her green tea. I was sincerely caught off-guard. I never thought she of all people would understand me so well. That being said, I never underestimated her in the first place, and secondly, there was some feeling that didn't want me staying by her side. Now I understand what that feeling meant. But that's beyond me now.
"So, what is it that you want, Nao?"
"Honestly, I'm bored!"
She stopped sipping her tea in astonishment.
"Bored?!"
"Yeah, I'm bored."
"That...That doesn't make sense."
"It doesn't need to."
Everyone seems to think that they understand me and know me very well. Sometimes, they believe that their hypothesis is perfect, and treat me the same as how they've envisioned. If it were only that simple...
Tch! How annoying! My own mother, the woman who carried me in her womb, brought me into this world and raised me, that person itself, to date has no clue of who I am, or what I am. And yet, you think that observing me would be enough to know what kind of person I am? How naive of you...Truly, but unlike you...I never underestimate anyone. Placing yourself high over someone else just based on the assumption you draw over them, or with the status and wealth you have accumulated, is the last thing one must ever do.
I could be cocky and just act like she's not on my level. But, that's foolish. Very few people have been able to pick off the strange aura surrounding me. At yet, not even Rinko-san could figure out what kind of person I was. When you consider all that, Kyouko-san is someone not to be messed with.
Betrayed by her lover, reduced to the level of a concubine in the eyes of society, raising her daughter on her own, accumulating all of these experiences together, she had developed her instincts to the point where she never had to trust and lean on another person, especially men.
WOLF! She was the grey wolf, in this cold world, painted in a pearlescent white, and the darkest of black. Her body scarred, but her teeth razer sharp, dyed in scarlet red. She had buried them deep into this unjust world, to protect what she held dear. She was no longer human, and now a vicious predator, in this never-ending jungle, hunting down her prey and being hunted down.
From the coldest of nights without a light...to being cast in the spotlight, only the battlefield has evolved over time, while she remains the cold-blooded predator. All while keeping her cub, away from this treacherous world, and making sure she doesn't follow the path that her mother had to take.
Alone in this bleak universe, there lived, a girl, who on a fateful night was forced upon to be a woman. Against her will, she was taken down mercilessly. Her cries, sounded like the whispers of the wind, too faint for the world to notice. Yet, she questioned, is this love? Do I finally me something to a person? She had questions, hidden inside the deepest parts of herself, all while being in that unwarranted situation. And finally, when the deed was done, she was cast away onto the streets, on a winter's night, and as time passed by, a seed sprouted, which was her only ray of light.
Time passed on, and yet she was a predator. Residing in their own precious world, a world they had built only for themselves, entered a mysterious entity. An entity that safeguarded the cub. As time passed on, the entity was a part of their world. That was how it was. A world that consisted of three people now, a mother, a daughter, and her friend. But when the daughter wasn't around, the mother reverted back to her true form, standing still and vigilant, as she leered with her killing intent, questioned me one last time...
"What are you?"
What was I? Was I a predator, who felt cozy and comfortable and called that world 'home' or a hunter in disguise to tear the world apart from the inside? Whatever it was, it was life or death, at that instinct, to the naked eye that was...
But to that entity, it was a question, that defined its existence. The entity, though mysterious, and self-centered, never stopped its quench for thirst. A thirst about its own consciousness. And, at the same time, an entity, that was filled with...
LUST!
LUST FOR BLOOD!
BLOOD LUST!
"..."
"Kyouko-san, since it's you that's asking, I will confide my deepest, darkest, and most well-protected secret about myself."
I leaned in close to her, put a hand against the wall, placed my knee near her seat, trapping her, without any space to move away from me, and slowly pulled her hair back that was covering her ear, and gently licked her cheek, till the point I reached her ear, and grabbed a nibble of it, only to pull back myself, and then whispered...
"I'm just like you Kyouko-san, or maybe, I'm even worse..."
As I was whispering that into her ear, I could see my reflection. It was a person I had never met before, eyes filled with excitement and greed, a sinister smile, cold and melancholic with a mischievous tone, I loved this me...
I placed my hand over her cheek, she was unable to move, let alone push me back, and pulled her closer to me, as she closed her eyes, feinting to go for a kiss, only to whisper in her other ear...
"I'M A MONSTER! A MONSTER WITH AN UNQUENCHABLE THIRST OF BLOOD!"
