Chapter 5 - Spoiled Sister

It was a nice morning for me to relax, thinking I can have the whole day free so I can plan the content of the new category in my blog. I intend to pursue with that because I wanted to have somewhere to share what suddenly are these that affects me.

For two days that I talked to Valen, in the bar, supermarket, and the place we went into for some snacks, several things awoke. And I need to know what are they.

I have been feeling a little confused and a stuttering mess. Whenever he looks at me in that way, with intensity and with those smile that did not hinder a seductive charm, I've always thought of him as someone so appealing, gorgeous, and handsome.

I've never thought like that about a man. Whenever I think of someone from the opposite sex, I've always wondered what topics would interest them the most in order for me to broaden my blog audience. I never thought about them as beautiful, charming, and just a second ago, seductive.

How could it be?

Valen. That man is riling me up and he's not even probably aware. I just don't think this is something good because I am not feeling good.

All these perplexities in merely just two days, I cannot even stop thinking about that man. Valen who showed me different kinds of traits in one day.

He acted gentleman, nice, has a helping hand but in much more serious context, he radiates this energy that pulls me towards him. As if I am merely a kite that needs to be controlled.

And did I say I need to be thinking about the content of my new category? Right, right. Valen is taking my mind away. Such a peculiar effect he had on me.

I sighed and drank the rest of my tea and put my blonde hair up into a messy bun. I planned to do chores first before I start with my blog work. I need to clean the whole apartment, just put some things back into its place, polish the floor, clean the windows, change my sheets and voila.

But as soon as I took hold of my broom, I heard a knock coming from my door.

That shouldn't be the apartment bill, water bill, or even electric bill. I've already paid all of them. Well, there's only one way to find out.

I opened the door and was to surprised to see who it is.

"Hello, sissy" Luna smiled sweetly at me, lips bloody red with matte lipstick. She's dressed in a fancy dress and is holding her signature purse while her black hair with blonde highlights are tied into a tight and neat ponytail.

"Luna" I spoke, "What brings you here?" I asked. She never comes here. She never did once come here for a visit. It's always in the house, our family house.

She shrugged, "Well, I felt bored and I was having a bad day and I said, why not make it worse? So here I am"

I wasn't so sure whether her statement is sarcastic or not but I am used to how she behaves when mother is not around. She's less refined, a little wilder, and more mouthy. Luna is two years younger than me and just got her degree of fashion design. I wonder why mother approves her course choice while she's not with mine.

"Won't you let me in your crampy old place?" she asked nicely, "Mother doesn't know I am here but if she did, she'll be furious"

I heaved a heavy breath and completely opened the door to let her in.

I noticed the way she looked a bit hesitant to take a step inside but did after a minute of thought. Her pointed heels echoed at the doorway and she instantly look around the place, her mouth coming into a cringe look and her fingers made this exact gesture that I very well know.

"This place is really. . . crampy. No wonder mother doesn't stop scolding you. This design is disgusting"

Well, I'm used to that as well. Unlike me, Luna is raised to be so spoiled. Always given anything she wants and I thought that's because she's the youngest and basically, the 'baby' in the family.

"How you live in such place—do you see that?" Luna pointed a finger at the wall, "The paint's peeling off!"

"Yes, I planned to do some repainting" I said and Luna looked at me and shook, "You should rather plan on leaving but how could you really? I mean, you're poor."

All she does is belittle me as if I am not her older sister and I'm always silent whenever this happens. Because as the eldest, I should always be patient and act deaf for all of these.

"Why don't we go settle in the living room?"

She waved a hand and walked first, easily finding the spot I said because my flat is simple and where's where is very easy to memorize.

She stood at the middle of the living room, looking around the place with that initial expression she had when she first stepped inside. Her fingers clasped to her heart as if she's experiencing a mild heart attack.

"Geez. I cannot believe you live in such an ugly place"

"Do you want some snacks?" I offered and she rolled her eyes.

"No. I don't want to eat non-quality foods." she shuddered as if she was utterly disgusted and for a little fraction, I was also but not for my 'non-quality foods' but because of the way she's behaving.

She's always been like this. The attitude that attempts to annoy me, irritate me, and wants to watch me lose my poise but I never gave her the satisfaction. Mainly because I can't. She's my mother's beloved daughter, she would slap me if I do anything to her. While she ignores when Luna does or tells anything to me.

"Anyway," she paused and opened her purse, "I came here to also give you this"

"This is an invitation for grandma's seventy fifth birthday" she handed me a small white square envelope designed with gold linings.

I looked at it and saw grandma's name at the back of it, Ima Grey's 75 grand celebration.

"That's formal and I know you cannot afford a nice outfit but it's necessary. Anyway, I should go. I cannot afford to stay for too long here" she looked around the area again and turned around after making a cringeworthy expression.

I followed her to at least walk her to the door.

"Anyway, I'm bringing a date, you should as well or you cannot even afford that too?"
