Jacob had been walking for days when he finally had to take a rest for a while. Rain beat through the thick canopy forest. Luckily Jacob was able to shelter inside a tree. "This looks like an all-day shower," Jacob thought.
The hollowed-out inside of an old tree was rather convenient for the time being. Now that he had time on his hands. Jacob intended to train his newly hatched ant companion.
"One of the first things I should get her are some gene cores" Though she was still agitated by the silk that tied her up. He left her tied up for the time being. Many Insecta class animals sought refuge inside the tree hollow.
The insects were all around tree hollow trying to find some shelter from the pouring rain. Insects tried to hide in the soil running away from Jacob. He punched through them using his Doom sutra and left a burn mark running down its spine.
There were mostly caterpillar-like creatures that were really small and easy to kill. He killed them before they could hide and soon he had a lot of dead creatures that he needed to process.
He tore the gene core from outside of their bodies. He had a substantial supply of gene cores to feed his newly hatched ants.
Kreieek
The little ant was agitated and was trying its hardest to bite Jacob again. Jacob pinned it down and took the silk off of it. As Jacob released it, it made a beeline toward Jacob. The speed was fast and caught Jacob off guard, Though he was never caught off guard.
When Jacob pressed his finger on its back until it couldn't move and eventually its anger dissipated. Soon he held up his gene core "Do you want this?" Jacob held the gene core tantalizingly in front of it.
The Ant and seemed to understand him a little. It opened its mandibles and Jacob gave it the gene core. The ant ate the gene core until nothing was left. Her temper faded away and listened to Jacob more.
"Now you can go," Jacob never restricted her anymore and let her free.
"Now I need to think of a suitable name for you both", When the larvae heard this it was ecstatic, he crawled in front of Jacob and chirruped.
"Hmm, you want to go first? You put me on the spot….." Jacob thought of a name on the spot and said, "How about Rex?". Jacob thought the name was good and even had a smile on his face. Though the little larvae were furious over the name.
The gesture made Jacob's senses pick up on something. He tried some more names but they were all met with the same response.
Soon Jacob grew annoyed and they picked up the little larva between his hands. He couldn't find anything to help his suspicions but he figured the larvae were female.
"Then you're Tina. That's final"
The larvae seemed dissatisfied with her name but never made a scene.
"You will be…Toma, Tina and Toma", The Ant never seemed to care for a name but was more interested in the pile of gene cores to his side.
"You want these?" Jacob held the gene core toward the ant and surprisingly it rejected it. The ant speedily ran away toward the corpses Jacob killed and started eating them. Although she was small she was quick with her bites.
"She prefers meat?"
Jacob was confused, then he remembered some beasts prefered meat over gene cores. Though many thought this was because of primal instinct, research revealed that because they preferred the energy from the body over the gene core. Gene cores powered the body so they would digest the energy that was inside them.
Even though this was the case, people prefer collecting gene cores and Essence stones over corpses. Corpses were harvested for other reasons.
For a second Jacob thought that the gene cores would go to waste, when he looked at the pile of gene cores Tina had already started eating quickly. "Well, maybe it's not so much of a bad thing".
Jacob started to kill a lot more things to feed his companions. He killed them using the Doom sutra that left a burn straight down their spine. Jacob would carve the gene core from their bodies and feed them both with them.
Tina gorged herself on the gene cores until she became visibly fatter. Her eating habits looked uncontrollable. Jacob began to feed her more just to see how much she could eat, soon they were all finished.
"There is nothing more. All the rest of them are hiding somewhere good" Jacob showed his empty hands to the larva, which looked sad. Jacob tried to feed her some meat but she rejected it.
"It's fine, I will find some more for you soon. This is probably normal for you, you should be cocooning soon". Tina ran into his bag and never came back out.
Jacob turned to Toma who was struggling to finish the food she was given. She was stubborn and didn't want to leave it. Jacob wasn't in a rush to take her off and watched it struggling to finish her meal.
Toma rested until she was hungry enough to eat. Jacob practised his Doom sutra to strengthen the cards he had to defend himself. He was able to understand the sutra a little more while practising in the air.
The rain had been falling for almost a week now and Jacob was getting tired of being cooped up inside a tree for this long. He continued to kill anything he could find to feed Tina and Toma. Toma had been eating a lot more than she usually had been. Jacob knew this had to do with her growth and fed her as much as she needed.
Jacob finished his daily routine of getting food for his companions and started training. His training consisted of punching till he was tired. In the middle of his self made training regiment he heard some weird noises that made him go silent to hear where it was coming from.
