What Reign had done was simple, he had merely coated himself in darkness and allowed it to tank the attacks for him, destroying most of them the moment they connected. Of course, it was something that seemed simple on paper but wasn't that easy to be executed.
One had to have not only good control over the darkness but had to use quite a bit of mana as each attack that the darkness consumed took a lot of mana from the user. Even though Reign seemed nonchalant about the entire thing, this little stunt had cost him almost a third of his mana, which was shocking as he had much more mana than an average peak Tier IV being.
