Evy couldn't decide, although Arvid was right, if she were to take on the Elf reshes, then she had to be powerful.
Yes, it was certain she was the heir to Katz petroleum and other properties.
Being the head of the Emerald Dragon,?
That was on a whole different level besides she was a lady.
The underworld was a very dangerous place; she had witnessed first class what went on there. Could she really do things like that to a fellow human?
Evy shivered, she suddenly felt cold. She couldn't picture herself being so inhumane, yes she wanted revenge, but till now she hadn't really thought of a plan maybe it was time to strategize.
Her mind was haywire concerning the underworld leader charade. That had to be on hold.
Britt was calling.
Evy took up her spoon to drink her soup. She suddenly felt nostalgic. She ran to the nearest bathroom to do her thing.
"Mom, are you okay?" Evy asked when she noticed how pale Britt was.
"you look pa…"
Before Evy could finish talking, Britt fainted, falling from the chair. Luckily Arvid was quick to the rescue.
"Britt? Britt… someone call the doctor," Arvid yelled, carrying Britt bridal style to the room.
"Yes… Doctor Brian, please come quickly. My mom isn't feeling well," Evy said into the telephone. She hung up and ran to Britt's room.
"Is she okay?, what happened to mom?, why did she suddenly faint?, she wasn't sick so how come this?" Evy kept asking Arvid various questions.
Few minutes later the doctor came, and they excused him.
Doctor Brian, a man in his late sixties, tall and broad, his physiques were almost perfect. He had little freckles on his face, which was adorned with a small straight nose and thin pink lips. His brown wavy hair already had little streaks of grey, adding to his pecks. He must have been a ladies' man when he was young.
He came out looking gloomy.
"How is she Brian?" Arvid asked. Arvid was in his mid-fifties.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Brian said to Arvid. They stepped aside.
Evy's sharp instinct kicked in immediately. She knew something was wrong, she just didn't know what.
"Thank you Doc, we can start the treatment immediately," Arvid said, his voice a little cracked.
"Okay, I'll call the ambulance. In the prime time, you can go see her, she's awake,"
Britt was in a sitting position, her back against the head post. She was staring out the window, when the door suddenly opened, she turned towards it. Seeing Evy and Arvid come in. She smiled wearily.
"Mom, it's good you're awake, tell me, how do you feel now?, the doctor said you'd be going for treatments… so don't worry mom, after the treatment you'll b well," Evy said hugging Britt.
"Evy dear, there's something you should know about," Arvid said, taking a sit beside her. He held her hand.
"Evy…" Arvid hesitated, fighting back tears.
"Your mom has stage 4 pericardial mesothelioma," Arvid finally dropped the bombshell. It shocked him when Evy burst out laughing.
"Dad, can you please, be serious, it's been a while you cracked a joke and this is what you could come up with?" She laughed, but deep down, she knew Arvid was serious she just couldn't come to terms with the truth.
"I'm serious. The doctor said she has 6 months and if we are lucky, 12 months but nothing's certain." Arvid wiped a tear that had escaped down his cheek.
"This… no, that's impossible." Evy was getting scared now.
"Mom, dad's joking, right?" She asked, smiling at Britt, but when she saw the tears in her eyes as she looked at her, she ran out of the room.
She was frightened.

1st June 1997
8:00am
Alva slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was a little blurred, so she closed them and opened them again. She looked around the unfamiliar environment.
She was in a well-furnished room; They decorated it with pink and had several stuffed toys and teddy.
The door opened, revealing a lady in her mid to late twenties; she was slender, not too tall, but she wasn't short either. She had big brown eyes, which were filled with tenderness and love. Her jet black hair was tied up in a ponytail. The lady walked toward the bed.
"you're finally awake," she smiled.
"Here I brought you hot soup. I thought you might wake up today, so I made it," she said, stretching out a bowl of steaming hot soup.
Alva stared at the soup for a while and looked at the woman. Her eyes were guarded.
The woman laughed.
"It's not poisoned, you had got a cold, so you had a fever, you've been asleep for three days, if you drink this you'd feel better," she probed, yet Alva didn't take it.
"Fine then, I'll just leave it here." the woman left the bowl on the side table and left, all the while Alva followed her with her eyes.
Alva couldn't resist the sweet aroma of the soup besides she was hungry, so she took the soup and downed it in one gulp.
Wow, the lady was right, she indeed felt better. The lady came back carrying a tray of food; the aroma wafted towards Alva's nose, making her stomach growl.
"I thought you'd be hungry, so I brought food" She placed the food on the table, seeing the empty bowl, she smiled and left.
Alva ate the food with relish. She had slept through three days, after all. No wonder she was so hungry.
After clearing the table and making sure she had well cleaned Alva, the lady sat down, deciding to have a normal talk with this little girl she had found in the woods.
"I am Britt Ingrid Katz, what's your name?" the lady said.
After contemplating whether to tell the woman her name, Alva spoke.
"Alva," she muttered
"What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl," Britt smiled
"Tell me, Alva, what were you doing in the forest all alone that day?" Britt asked.
Just then, a tear dropped from Alva's eyes.
