Chapter 1 - Prologue

It's always the summer.

I don't know what is in this season that brought out someone or something within you to the light of the heating sun. Something out of control. Someone that would do something you would have never thought you would have done.

Maybe it's not the summer though.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I was just tired. Tired of holding it in. Being the goody-to-shoes for 23 years is really stressful, taxing, and at the same time boring.

So when my parent gave me the plane ticket to the Philippines and a paid week vacation on the beautiful island of Boracay I 'reluctantly' took it with 'a troubled heart'.

"Mingyu, take it and enjoy yourself," mom said as she hands me the ticket with my name printed on it.

"Mom, I am graduating this school year. I need to focus," I refused.

My dad took the ticket from my mom's hand, grabbed my right hand forcefully placing the ticket in it. With the ticket were two bank cards, a debit and a credit card.

"Go! Enjoy yourself and bring home some souvenir for us!"

Souvenir! I can't help but chuckle, but what a souvenir indeed!

Mom, Dad. You caused all this!

Summer, how dare you!

A YEAR LATER!

"Mingyu, what is that?" Mom asked after opening the door.

"Are those babies!" Dad inspected.

I could only smile while scratching my head.

"Mom, Dad congratulations! You're now grandparents, they're your grandchildren."

Mom nervously laughed as she checked the babies and hit me on my right arm.

"Stop fooling around! I'll believe you if you brought one, but four?" Mom chided.

Dad was smiling as he again inspected, "Are they quadruplets!"

"Wait, what?!" My mom shouted as her face paled.

She then pushed my dad away and checked the stroller with four children in it.

"They do look alike!" she exclaimed.

"Yes, they are my children after all."

"So are they quadruplets?" Dad asked again.

I took a deep breath and replied, "No."

First there was silence. Then heavy breathing. After that, chaos.

"KIM MINGYU!"
