When Beliz was on his way to the testing a thin smile appeared on his lips. He knew what he was going to do. He will make it a quick fight then after he is done he will put his lab coat back on and continue to work in peace.
Thoughts ran through his head on how it could be a quick fight. After a few moments of debate, he came up with a few ideas on how he was going to handle it.
A few steps away from entering the testing room a stray thought came upon his mind.
Why would General Rad bring his son to the research facility?
From what he is guessing Ajax had no form of higher science education. He must be new to the military guessing from the rank he saw on Ajax's uniform. They didn't interact a lot and had no private conversations so all possibilities were vast and few.
When the Rad saw that they were all here he clapped his hands in excitement and brought the two of them close together.
"Alright it's gonna be Beliz versus Ajax," Rad said announcing himself as the moderator of the match, "In typical fashion of an event like this, the winner is decided when the other is knocked out, immobile, or quits. Should there be an event where I deem necessary to convene there will be a short break for both sides and the match will resume."
Rad shot a look at both of them. Ajax seems rather pleased with the rule. Beliz is unfazed as he just wants to get back to work.
Rad looks at the both of them and knew who was going to win. He would bet all of his money on Beliz. It's not that he hates his son and doesn't believe in him. It's just that Beliz is better.
When he was done giving the rules he pats both of them on the back to signal them to get ready. Beliz and Ajax get an appropriate distance from each other. They waited for Rad to signal the start of the match.
Rad raised his arm high into the arm and shot them one last glance. Ajax has a wide stance ready to charge at the moments notice. Beliz on the other hand stood still as though a brave toreador in front of a wild bull, who's only restraint is a thin rope on the verge of breaking.
He whistled loudly and brought his hand down.
And the bull charges.
Ajax moved quickly to cover the distance between them. As Ajax sprinted to cover the distance Beliz quickly tapped his foot, he doesn't need to do this but it is a common practice between Espers as it helps them focus, and the metal flooring warped to bind Ajax's feet in place, making him immobile.
"There, I win. Can I get back to work now?" Beliz said pointing to Ajax as he struggles to lift his feet.
Soon after he turns around to walk out Ajax managed to break the binding off of his feet. 'How typical,' Beliz thought to himself, 'A pugilist.'
If one were to look Ajax's stats they would not be surprised with what they saw. His highest stats was Strength with his lowest being intelligence. Typical of those who use the pugilist class.
When Ajax got in close contact Beliz saw a smile on the pugilist face, as though he read his mind. Ajax was close to landing a jab to Beliz's gut before another strap of metal flew from the floor and strapped itself to his wrist.
When Ajax saw his wrist sporting a brand new metal bracelet his eyes opened widely. 'Sh*t' He thought. Beliz had a small smirk on his face.
Beliz controlled the metal strap on his wrist to throw off the direction of his punch, missing him entirely.
"Son," Rad shouted from the side of the room, as though a dad cheering his son from the sidelines, "What did I tell you? He's crafty with it!"
Ajax grumbled under his breath as he prepared to hit Beliz again. He wound his other fist back in preparation to hit is nose this time.
Beliz at this point didn't care anymore, he knew that he won. He had a feeling that Rad knew this as well.
Another strap from the floor clung to Ajax's wrist throwing him off direction again, making him look like a fool who can't hit straight.
Rad from the sidelines saw this fight and had a smile on his face. His plan is working! Ajax is being made a fool of himself and Beliz is releasing some much needed stress.
However, Rad wondered to himself when his son will pull the trump card that he has in his back pocket.
Once Beliz saw that Ajax had metal straps on both hands cruel thoughts ran through his head.
Beliz could, in theory, pull on both straps in different directions, splitting Ajax in half. 'No,' He thought to himself, he must quell such devious impulses, 'That would be too quick... and the general is here."
So he decided that he was going to make it a one sided beatdown. And he was going to take his time to enjoy it.
