I'm still waiting to be killed," Eli said, holding out his hands and exposing his chest for Charles to come to attack him. As Charles had said Eli was no longer his son, so Eli dropped calling him father. Charles had never earned the title anyway. "Are you scared your grandmother is going to show up? I wouldn't worry about her."
Charles wondered if that meant Eli had lied about his mother's threat to visit if he harmed Eli. Eli was right, the one person he was scared of was his mother. He was also sure the woman also scared his father. She wasn't exactly the kindest person growing up. His mother had always been cruel and embraced every aspect of being a vampire. She also had a love for torturing and her family was not off-limits.
