Elaine was surprised by Helen's warning. Helen almost reminded Elaine of Sarah who didn't understand to be quiet and look how she ended up. "I am not the type of woman you want to be threatening Helen. If you plan to stick around my family you need to learn to watch who you're speaking to."
"Why should I? I know you're planning to get rid of me Elaine. It's why you invited me to the party right? So all your friends could question me and make me feel out of place. It must boil your blood to know that I am still by your son's side. It excites me even more to know how much I make people like you uncomfortable."
If Elaine wanted to talk, Helen would be open and honest with her. She could be just as nasty as Elaine with her words. Helen was respectful to those who are respectful to her. It was a two-way street where she wouldn't be the only one playing nice.
