After spending a long time in the morgue. Sabrina took the lady out of the hospital. "It's already late miss. I think you should go home to rest."
The lady stretched out her hand to hold Sabrina's. "Thank you for staying with my mother. I am sure she was happy."
Sabrina smiled and held her hand also. "I should be thanking her instead. She gave me the love of a mother. I will miss her dearly." They talked for a while, before Sabrina decided to send her home. She was leaving the hospital when Sabrina called her back.
"I didn't get your name."
"I am Jessica."
Josh was sitting on the chair inside the cell. He was hoping that Mrs Williams was okay. Daniel came into the station and asked of Josh. He was directed to where Josh was. He saw Josh faced down. He looked miserable. He tapped the cell gate with his car key. Josh looked up and saw his friend.
"Hey bro."
Josh stood up and went to meet his friend. He held the bars of the gate. "How is Mrs Williams?" He hoped to hear that she is okay.
"I haven't gone to the hospital yet. I went to the store and I found out that the ambulance had already taken her to the hospital, and Sabrina went with them." Tears filled in Daniel's eyes. Josh immediately understood the situation.
"How is she Daniel?"
"Josh she....." Daniel couldn't control his tears anymore.
Josh felt his knees weaken. "She what Daniel!" He yelled which made the officers turn to look at them.
"She burnt to death Josh." Daniel's tears bursted out.
Josh fell on the floor. He rested his head on the gates and screamed. " Ahhhhh! No! No!. He kept banging his hand on the gate. Daniel knelt down and consoled him. One of the officers came and started saying rubbish. "Hey, this is a cell. No noise here."
Josh didn't even notice what the man said. He was absent minded. He remembered when he went to Mrs Williams office when she sent for him.
.
.
He knocked softly on the door. "Yes, come in Josh." He opened the door and entered the office.
"You sent for me ma'am." She offered him a seat.
Mrs Williams removed her glasses and placed it on the table. She sat straight and looked at Josh and smiled. " When Sabrina came here for the first time. I had her tell me about herself. See, I want to trust the people I am working with. I want you to tell me about yourself."
Josh looked at the woman and smiled. He felt he could trust this woman. " My full name is Joshua Matthews. I am the son of Kyle Matthews. I am an only child. My father died when I was five years old. My uncle took care of me till I decided to start taking care of myself. My uncle as I will always say, was actually my dad's best friend."
"What about your mum?" Mrs Williams asked.
Josh smiled. "She ran away."
"Why?" Mrs Williams was confused.
He looked at her thinking whether he should tell her or not. But he felt he could trust her."She ran away after she killed my dad." He looked at Mrs Williams expecting a shocking reaction.
Mrs Williams gasped in shock. "Oh my Goodness!" She covered her mouth. She stared at Josh for a while. She held his hands softly. "Are you okay my dear?"
Josh chuckled. "I am really fine ma'am. I'm just hoping to find her to finally make my dad rest In peace."
"You will my dear. I just want you to know that if there is anything you need, I will always be there. Sabrina is like a daughter to me, and you also, you are like a son to me. If you have issues and you have no one to talk to, this old lady will always be there okay?"
Josh looked at the woman in front of him filled with admiration. He felt after the way his mother was, no woman on earth was good. He knew he was wrong. Like what his father told him, not every woman is like his mother. He still felt that way growing up, until he met Mrs Williams. "Yes ma'am, thank you. You are so kind. If people were like you, the world will be a better place." He wiped the tears that almost fell from his face.
Mrs Williams looked at the boy whose eyes were filled with admiration and respect. She got up and went to his seat. She hugged him while he was sitting down. "My dear, I hope and pray you will find your father's killer and find justice for your father."
Josh couldn't hold it in anymore and bursted into tears. He had held it in for years. He felt safe around this woman apart from his father, uncle and Daniel. He felt the love of a mother for the first time.
.
.
Daniel looked at the man with anger filled in his eyes. He wanted to punch the man but he couldn't be arrested also. He came to bail out Josh. He glared at the man before going to the officer in charge of the police station to apply for Josh's bail.
Josh was devastated and heart broken. He wondered why life had to take everything from him. First it was his father, Mister Smith and now Mrs Williams. He felt like the whole world was against him.
After Daniel signed the bail papers, Josh was free to go.
They were leaving the station when they saw Sabrina running towards them. She stopped right in front of them. "Josh I...."
"It's fine Sabrina. I know already."
She looked at him. "Who...."
"Daniel already did."
"I am sorry."
"Sorry for what? Sabrina."
"I called the fire fighters, but they wasted time I ..." She was suddenly hugged by Josh. Her heart skipped even in the situation.
"It's okay. It's not your fault okay?" He pulled back to see her swollen face. "You have cried a lot. You need to go home to rest."
She smiled. "I will." She remembered Jessica. "Mrs Williams daughter came to the hospital today."
The two men were shocked. They looked at each other before Daniel spoke. "I never heard about Mrs Williams having any daughter."
"Me neither." Josh looked at Sabrina. "What did she say?"
"She said she was not with her mother for two years, because of personal issues. She heard the news of her mother's store burning. She rushed to the hospital." She sighed. "She really looked miserable."
"Wow, that's sad." Daniel said.
Josh took a deep breath. " I knew her for only four days. But I felt like I had known her my whole life. Rest In peace Mrs Williams." A tear rolled down his cheek as he closed his eyes. Daniel patted his back trying to console him.
"Rest In peace Mrs Williams." Sabrina closed her eyes as she whispered those words.
