Kate was taking a cat nap in my room , waiting for Fredrick to leave . The pocket knife that we had from the chest was with me . I took the chest , locked it up and kept the key in a drawer .
With the pocket knife still in my pocket , I walked out of my room with the chest . It was completely silent when I was back . Fredrick was sitting on the sofa while the others had bought chairs from the kitchen and sat with him . Did they talk while I was gone ? It looked like they had because all I could see was Ben's face filled with rage .
Fredrick was shifting on the sofa countless times because of the stares he received from everybody . "Here you are sir . Now that you've got what you wanted , why don't you leave us in peace ?"
Fredrick took the chest in his hands and shook it . "I thought that you would be a little bit intelligent . Don't you know that the armor in the golden chest is way too heavy to make a sound ? "
I made his face look like a crispy red tomato . I must've been looking really intimidating . He walked away and we watched him until he reached the front door . As I had guessed , he turned around and took long and strong strides towards me . "Where's the key , I need it right now . I know you have it so don't even think about lying to me ." I rejoiced at MY chance to annoy him this time .
"Isn't it really great that we accommodated you here when you basically barged in ? You asked for the chest that we took from your house but think about why we had to come there ? YOU decided to attempt murder on your OWN son . This is all the more reason I need to believe that you only deserve the chest , not what it possess . "
If I had had a pin with me , I would've popped his face to expel all the anger that took up his chubby and dangly face .
"You know that both the key and chest belongs to me so give it to me right now !"
His frustration was the most satisfying thing to watch . I had wanted to give something similar to this when I found out that he had attempted murder on his own son . The tense atmosphere around the others were far gone now when they realized what I had in mind . I COULD'VE used my powers and simply kicked him out but he was human and I didn't want him to know that I was supernatural .
This was something important since I needed to get into their good side as soon as possible and find out the Siren . I didn't care if Fredrick accepted me . He was human and was just a mere helper to Nate . What I needed was Nate's trust and companionship .
" I suggest that you come another time , when we're ready for you because no matter what you do , you're not getting the key thins time . "
He stomped out of the house and I excused myself from the others . Fredrick had already gotten into his car when I opened his driver seat car door . "I have an offer for you though . Do you really want to leave without hearing it out ? "
After giving someone a tough situation , when they know that the solution they need will be got much easily , it was psychologically proven that they would take up the offer . Human psychology was the easiest to learn because I was obsessed with it before . My tactic worked anyway and he agreed to hear me out and see what I had in mind .
"I'll give you the key if you let me work with Nate too . "
He was puzzled . I answered FOR him to save more time . I didn't want Beth to come here and hear all this right now . I wanted her to know when everything was ready .
" I feel like , with being just human , going along with evil is much easier than stopping them . Besides , people call things evil if we love ourselves and do things confidently when we want something out of our reach . Nothing should be impossible for us . Don't you think so too ?"
And just like that , I conquered Fredrick's heart . I didn't know that simple minded people could turn bad but I was glad that there were people like him in the field too . It would be easier to fool them .
He promised to see what he could do and left for good . I heaved a long sigh and went back in . The others caused a commotion , demanding for an explanation when they knew perfectly that they couldn't expect one .
I Beth to think that we were sketching something so I decided to start acting a little aggressive towards them . "Shut up all of you ! Why did I even think of helping good guys ? It would've been better if I could've just joined Nate !"
Everybody , for once , looked as though they really believed me . Everybody except Beth realized what I was doing and went along with me . My heart dropped a thousand miles when I saw the disturbed look on Beth . I really wanted to confess to her . It was her that made me want to stay with Kate and not Nate .
Kate had come down because of the commotion and we looked at her , horrified . It was noting actually serious but her dark makeup was all mashed up and she looked like living zombie in front of me .
I tried my best not to laugh in the situation we were in and left the scene . Kate was flustered when everybody started laughing at her face . Were they just stupid or did they think that Beth would actually believe that I was going in the wrong direction with just that shouting ?
They were silent one second and laughing the other . It didn't take me long to realize why they had started laughing . Beth had left too , She had come into my room . I decided that it was okay to let in a little bit to her and turned around from my bed . I stopped moving when I saw that Beth was holding a kitchen knife .
