Everyone came downstairs to the kitchen because of my scream . "My lord ! What happened to you Rene ?" It was dad and I had no kind of answer to give to him even if I had been able to open my mouth , that is . I was unable to do anything because of the shock it gave to me itself .
Kate was among them and since I was keeping quiet , everybody's attention started to slowly drift towards her . I finally found my tongue and ran over to the circle Nathaniel , Ben , Cora , Marge and Beth made around Kate while asking questions about who she was .
Well , Marge didn't need any explanations because she had already lived with her before but she was not at all ready to find out that Ben was her half brother , the same went to Ben . Both of them weren't close at all . Ben had only opened up to me . It was like he had social anxiety or something .
There was a serious awkward tension between us , mainly between Ben and Marge while I was telling everyone what they missed when we were in Texas . After telling them everything , I realised that I had actually gobbled up all the delicious looking snacks which were kept in front of us in the kitchen by Cora . I looked at them with a sense of guilt because they were too into my story to even look at those in front of them .
All of them shared me a look of order from their eyes that I instantly recognised . "I'll get the same snacks for you within ten minutes , ok ? " I went to grab a coat because it was starting to get really cold outside and ran to the supermarket where the snacks were bought .
I was waiting for my snacks to be served to me after packing on a nearby table when I realised that didn't know hoe Beth felt now . I had given little attention to her after saving her because of the piling of problems but I did care for her . For some reason , she never approached me when I was free and in the house . I had heard from Cora that Beth had gotten her memories back when I gave the carving to Marge . That was all I heard about her . She was acting rather strange and silent for someone who got their memory back because in my memory , I had never talked to her after saving her that day .
I got the snacks and proceeded to run back home again when I noticed some small movements from the forest nearby . The forest was the same one that I had found Fighter , as well as saved Ben . It was a rather large forest that the citizens refused to let the government cut it down . I looked at the part of the forest where I heard the noises . I looked around my surroundings . The streets were empty and there was no one who could see me even a tiny bit . It became completely silent and I could no longer hear the voice . Was it possible that the Happons that we escaped from tracked me down here . I could no longer act as them because it was a broad daylight , AND I also didn't have the carving with me .
I was really tired from using magic so much . Therefore , I thought that running was my best option . I looked towards the area where I had last heard the sound , ensured it wasn't moving or anything , and started running at the top of my human speed .
I could hear the noise of the leaves and tree branches being shoved aside quickly while it was following me . Scared , I looked back and to my horror , something jumped at me at full speed , and I fell down on my butt , then on my back . I had no choice but to use magic and I opened my eyes , for a split second and my mind stopped working when I saw , .....
Fighter . He started licking my face all over . It was my first time seeing him in daylight and he had amazing grey and white fur . He was having a hard time stopping himself from licking me that I had to push him away a little bit hardly .
I spend a little time with him in the forest with the pastries in my hand . I didn't want them to make me buy another set of pastries if they ended up melting , so I said goodbye to Fighter and was going back when I felt being tugged at .
He refused to leave my side . It was really adorable , seeing a wolf act like this so I decided that it was time thee other met him . I took him along with me . I reached back home and of course , everybody was waiting for me because I had taken longer than usual . Fighter was behind me because I had asked him to and I put a hiding spell on him so that the others wouldn't see him .
As soon as I came to the steps , they grabbed the pastries from me , being playfully angry and started munching on them . "I have a surprise for you all ." I said , smiling , but they didn't know that my smile was a rather naughty one .
They must have been still thinking about food because they had already started licking their lips right in front of me . "I present to you , my first pet-" Their smiles had already faded but they listened . "- , FIGHTER!"
I undid the hiding spell but to my surprise , he wasn't seen behind me as I had expected him to be . "HA HA ! Nice joke Rene ! I didn't know that you were the type to pull pranks !" They fake laughed first and started laughing heartily after Cora said that . I was confused to where he went but my doubts were cleared when all of us heard very loud growling , from inside the house .
All of them looked at me in horror and started following the house . It had led to the guest room . "Is Kate in there ?" I asked .
"No , Jaden and her went to talk to a guy . Jasper , I think ." Nathaniel replied .
I was shocked that they had went without telling me but the fact that Fighter was growling was more important to me . The only time I heard him growl was when we were nearing the Happons in the cabin , inside the forest.
I went into the room slowly . Beth was sitting on the bed , frightened at the sight of Fighter being in her room , while he was growling the same growl that he had growled before . Did this happen if he sensed just badly influenced supernatural creatures ?
I was half near to Fighter with the rest of them behind me unable to me move at all , when he turned his head towards me , lowered his growling , and tilted his head to the side , as if he was asking me permission to pounce on her . I shook my head as a no and he whimpered slowly as if I had restricted him from doing it . It was a miracle that he had obeyed me . I gave Fighter some meat from the kitchen and looked at the rest of them , with Beth still in the room , horrified . "Cora , do you think the Kitsune had actually left her ?"
She looked at me questionably and shook her head as a yes . "Are you sure that she is a witch though ?"
"What are you trying to say Rene ? That Beth isn't who she tells she is ?" She was half mocking me because I was insulting her friend who was with her for her whole life .
"Cora , you may need to hear a part of my story first ."
I made her sit down beside the kitchen counter and began narrating what happened in the forest the night I saved Ben with more details .
