"Isn't your Magic increasing too fast?", Ruffus asked Archer.
"I thought so too but it better than staying on the same spot too long.", he replied. "And with a week of suspension I only had time to train as the quests were blocked as well."
"But it's more than double from a week ago.", Ruffus said.
Archer forgot that he had the Phoenix heart transplant. So when he remembered he made a lie.
"My circuits are improving as I use them. So this could be some side effect from this.", what he didn't know that this was true as well but for another reason. As he had two Phoenix circuits built into him the transplant was even more scarier.
"Glad to see you on my class again, mister Wright.", Mister J said passing by the two boys.
"I'm as well, mister J.", he replied.
"As we get there you can get into position.", the teacher said and went a little ahead.
"You are marked for sure.", Ruffus said. "Probably he will make you face that Ernest guy."
"The silver haired?"
"Yeah. This guy is improving like a crazy on the Mutation and Weapon class."
"Why not the Spell too?", Archer felt a doubt.
"Remember that this is a mage school primary. So another kinds of adventurers are more uncommon here like pure swordsmans and so on. He certainly is one of those but with a high mutation.", Ruffus explained.
"That Ice Sword."
"Yes but that isn't the most scary about him..."
"Mister Wright, can you come to the stage for you remember to not fault on my classes?", mister J said as they arrived on the class.
"Yes, sir.", he looked at Ruffus.
"Look at his stats.", the other whispered.
Archer was fast to found his opponent already on the stage and access his information.
[Ernest Knightwood]
[Race: Half-Elf]
[1st Year Student]
[Strength: 57]
[Agility: 75]
[Stamina: 68]
[Power: 59]
[Magic: 7]
[Aura 1063]
[Mutantion points: 235]
[Fairy Queen: You have a huge problem over here.]
[West Tiger: With this amount of Aura he can defy some logics already.]
[Archer: How so?]
[TFA: Authority not enough but you'll understand in no time.]
"I'll have you fight probably the best student of this class. Try to keep up, okay?", mister J knew that this would be interesting for both parties. "You may use whatever you have at your disposal except for physical weapons."
As mister J was talking the other boy already made his sword. This one was on another level from the previous class they had together. The blade was clean and more sharp. It was almost like a proper weapon but for its ice color.
Archer started to breath out the air on his chest and lightning started to sprout from his back to all his body. Leaps of energy would leave and hit the floor near him. Different from two weeks a cold mist was around the boy something he had planned during the week.
"I forgot that Archer had the Ice mutation too.", Ruffus said.
"Battle.", J said.
As he started both stayed on position instead of start attacking but Archer had the range advantage at his side. So he went foward to test what defying the logic was. A lightning was thrown by him into his opponent.
"This is child play.", Ernest said while cutting the attack and making it vanish. "You need more than this to make me move."
"Oh yeah.", Archer replied and stored up the information he gathered about his opponent Aura uses. "Then let me try.", he instantly vanish.
The battle started finally. Archer was fast enough to make some of his attacks penetrate the other boy's defense but something was not right for both. The lightning boy wasn't on his maximum speed and the ice boy wasn't getting too much damage.
"What is happening?", Archer said at distance to himself stopping this attacks for a while.
"What?", Ernest was smiling. "Is my turn now?", the boy started to run and was fast enough to keep up with Archer but not enough to hit him.
"You.", the boy started to analyze all his opponents movements and he saw where the logic was being broken little by little. "I get it.", it was a huge mass of Magic gathering on Archer's right hand.
Ernest was doing one attack when he noticed but swift as the wind from nowhere he made his way out while. This movement was too strange for any other student but for Archer who was closely watching this was the true child play.
"You're still on my range.", Archer said and his heart and right wing foundation started to circulate violently. The mass of energy on his hand started to gather all the air around him. The mist of cold dissipated and flames took place on his hand. "Be welcome to be my guinea pig. Wing of the Phoenix.", he swung his arm looking for his opponent. The flame on his hand expanded to a great wing like blade that engulfed Ernest as it followed the arm flow.
'This kid is insane.', mister J thought. 'He used magic and mutation to convert into a high level spell.', then he remembered the other student.
The flames were fastly burned away after the impact. Archer was only a little worn out after that huge attack. Ernest was there totally worn out on the floor but yet no damage was seeing on him. Archer knew that this defense should costed him almost all of his Aura.
"When did you learn?", the silver boy asked.
"During our battle.", Archer replied.
"This was your goal?"
"I know you can continue.", the boy knew that even after without Aura Ernest could battle.
"Good. Because I want to test something as well. ICE PALACE.", the whole stage was engulfed by cold mist and then the arena was like a throne chamber where Ernest was sat down looking at Archer. "On this place my blade hits without fail.", Archer thought that he heard that somewhere but wasn't sure.
"Shall we begin then?", he was still on lightning god mode so he went against the self proclaimed king.
Ernest was with his blade and swung it poorly at the boy's direction. That for Archer was on slow mode so fastly he dodged the direction but on the middle of his trajectory a cut went on his chest and blood started to flow into his mouth and wound.
"You're good.", Archer said and noticed the trick. "It's time to change gears. Second Gear.", the lightnings on his body increased.
'He wasn't on full speed?', J thought looking at the quantity of energy around the boy.
"You can't win.", Ernest said and made another slash from his position but Archer moved fastly again. "It's useless.", he said but the boy was still moving. "What is happening?"
"Logic is happening.", Archer said on the front of his opponent but he was walking backwards. So he spinned into a backhand punch throwing Ernest away and breaking the throne as well the whole palace. "I won't spill out your weakness but that's your fault for not understanding it."
"The winner is Archer Wright.", J announced looking at his student passed out on the floor. "Everyone find someone to train with and improve your mutations. I'll take him to infirmary while this don't slack off.", he picked the boy from the ground put on his back and went away.
"What was that? You speed up?", Ruffus said approaching Archer.
"Yeah. I thought that wouldn't be bad to hold the lightning god mode for more time with less effort and speed up when needed.", he lied.
The truth was that after he got the Superspeed from miss Z. He came up with his first original combat style that was the Gears. He combined stages from lightning god mode with his Superspeed and attribute them values starting at one and going up.
"You looked a little like that crazy woman.", Ruffus said and Archer was a little pale as he was totally like her on mutation now. "Now lets train a little. Give me some thoughts.", and they started training their mutations.
Archer took the opportunity to enhance his other mutations as they increased in number and he was too found of lightning god mode and Superspeed. As well he started to incorporate Aura on his movements as Ernest did during the whole battle.
Ruffus powers were almost on the same category as the silver boy but they were opposite when it comes to second choice. The sand boy was a caster. So he prefered ranged attacks instead of close ones as the other.
"You aren't good at all on close combat.", Archer said.
"Why are you saying this?"
"This school privilages the ones that are good on both, doesn't it?", the boy had a point. Aureos, Ursula, Ernest, mister J, miss Z, himself were all good examples of it.
"You only met people that are exceptions and you are one too. So your thoughts are extremely wrong.", Ruffus said. "Normally a caster does a lot more of damage than a close combatant but they need more time to do so. Which make them very bad at one on one battles but great on group battles."
"Yeah.", Archer agreed. "But from the point from the school being at least mediocre on close combat increases your survivability, doesn't it?", and after this Ruffus started at least to be mediocre on close combat.
