Aldrick looked at Reneé, without blinking for a few minutes.
'It was evident that he was completely puzzled after what she had said to him: yes, he knew that he was completely heartbroken after her sister had left them, but why wouldn't he have been able to survive? He remembered that he had indeed survived, he had survived after his sister was gone, he was there to protect Ella, and was there to be her guardian and Protector through his life, till the time she needed him to be there. Then why was Reneé saying all this, and now that he remembered everything, why couldn't he bring himself to remember, recall or match anything with her statement?!'
But before he could have stopped her and asked the same question, she herself continued her previous explanation after exhaling slowly, to gather her strength.
