"I don't know. I didn't want to see you have to refuse him," Hinata confesses, providing no further elaboration or explanation. He fidgets with the seams of his collared sleeves, keeping his hardened gaze forward, nowhere in particular along the road.
Mizuki furrows her eyebrows, her heart clenching and then releasing, doubling over in her chest. She knows there's something more to this than Hinata will admit and Hinata knows it too, and then she realises hiding their obvious affections for each other isn't very easy.
Mizuki should've expected that he'd still have that soft spot for her which, really, she doesn't want to take advantage of it all—if anything, knowing his feelings only makes her feel bad.
"We don't have to, if you don't want to. I mean, I did say that I would be the one who'd take you to the festival so you're allowed to refuse the offer."
