"I haven't had anyone tie my hair like this since I was a child," Hinata blurts, uncharacteristic to his typically secretive nature. "Reminds me of someone," he continues, regardless, though his voice is much softer.
"Ah?" Mizuki hums. "Girlfriend?" she dares to ask, masking the weight of the question with a joking laugh. Her heart sinks at the idea of a past girlfriend of his, but she doesn't think on it enough to disappoint her. Hinata takes unusually long to respond to this. Mizuki waits, very patiently and expectantly, twirling his soft, soft hair around her hands and then the cloth.
"Nah," Hinata finally responds and in the second that he doesn't speak up, Mizuki relaxes. "It's just… A sister, I guess? I used to have a sister."
'Oh', Mizuki wants to say but it doesn't sound too appropriate in words. Pursing her lips, she ties the end of the braid with a ribbon, tucking it around his shoulder. She sits back, asking cautiously, "What was she like?"
