"Do you believe in fate?" Mizuki asks in a blur.
"It'll exist whether or not I believe in it," Hinata responds curtly. Mizuki doesn't look like she's too happy with the answer so Hinata sighs, his cheeks blushing red.
"To be fair, if fate wasn't a thing, I'm sure we would've never found each other. That day… We met… I'm sure you could've fallen anywhere, even in a different city or world. I don't know how parallel universes work but it took some luck for us to find each other. The world doesn't usually work in our favour."
"I could've fallen at anybody's feet? Would've saved me a lot of arguments, hm?" Mizuki stretches her back, stifling a yawn. Hinata's gaze sinks.
Mizuki's face, now turned to him, is pale as the moon, fragile milk white. Her features have softened and something in her eyes glitter with the same childish curiosity they've always had, face lit with a soft, candle-like flattering light.
