When Mizuki opens her eyes, she hears the whirring of an electronic in her background, and then the louder chirping of grasshoppers. The trees shiver as birds fly away, squawking loudly at the top of their lungs as mist shrouds the environment.
Mizuki sits up, and she realises she's been lying down on her hip—and for some reason, she's the only one in the boat. Her eyebrows furrow as her brain struggles to process the situation, with which she has to turn her head in question.
The boat remains stranded in the middle of the river, and the water which had once been blue is now murky and grey, contaminated with nameless substances and ash.
Mizuki feels a tremble in her heart, followed by a quake of uncertainty that leaves her sick to the pits of her stomach.
She clasps her hand around the support on which she'd been sleeping, and as she tries to look around, she fails to distinguish her surroundings.
