"Grace stopped by earlier to check up on you but you were asleep in the afternoon, just wanted to let you know," he informs meekly before flashing a small smile and leaving.
"Oh, thank you," Mizuki replies in a hoarse voice. "I've been trying to shut myself in because I didn't want to risk going out and making my injuries worse and I'm starting to miss going outside already. It's so loud at night when I can't sleep because I can hear the monsters but I can't go out for the sake of my own health. It sucks."
Picking up the tray of plain rice and honey-glazed chicken (alongside an assortment of vegetables too, but Mizuki's especially attracted by the meat), she gently helps small amounts of food into her mouth.
"Oh," Brandon's lips part in surprise, visibly shocked. Mizuki's quite sure it's a signature expression of his, an emotion that defines him because he's so clueless half the time.
