It was as if all magic was being unleashed at the chaotic battleground as they were observing. Thousands of spells were flying everywhere. The green and grassy ground that they were once fighting is just a burnt ground.
"War does things to these grounds. Don't you think, Schaffer?" Argus asked as he looked down at the chaos below.
"How many Elemental Wars have we fought together? I've long lost count." Schaffer replied.
"I don't know, but I'm sure that its a battle well fought."
"Do you still remember why we continue to fight?"
"Its because we sought for knowledge, honor and the benefits as the monarchs of the world."
"Of course. Of course." Schaffer had a sorrow face. "Even if it costs us half our kingdom's population, including the children?"
Argus paused for a moment before answering, "Morals doesn't matter headmaster when war is at hand. Its just the reality. We're simply the old people manipulating children into heading into war so that we can gain power and knowledge about the others. Morals, righteousness, it doesn't matter. Because in the end, this war is inescapable. Five months of world peace, seven months of war. That's how this goes."
"Sad thing isn't it."
"No, its not." Argus immediately replied. "We're living in a war driven world with no means of peace. The knowledge of the god is beyond us. Do you know the advance in magic that we got in all of those wars benefit the world in a way that we won't get in millenia. Lost magic and magic that were deemed impossible, possible."
"..."
"Teleport magic, imbued into portals, instant transportation between locations. Helped save countless snow driven countries from their supplies. Mana Condenser, helped create magical weapons and tools to help day to day workers and housed countless amounts of people from homelessness. Those who were once at the very bottom became the apex of the living. And those monarchs commanded the entire world to save their dying race."
"In exchange for a yearly war that kills countless people?"
"For the forever lasting solutions of the knowledge and wishes that has been brought. Lives are nothing compared to the ones that prospered and has been saved. So unless you're questioning your morality right now, then I advice you to get out of my face. As between the both of us, I've never made an entire species extinct for the same goal that we both pursue."
Schaffer's aura suddenly flared, but calmed down. He sighed, "Well I guess we're both demons. And I'm here trying to be an angel."
"Once the deed is done, there's no turning back."
As they were talking, a large explosion just happened from the clash that was going on below.
They activated spells that increased and enhanced their view.
There were several people that will be taken into groups. For the people who are not fortunate enough to be chosen by the professors and the other third parties involved in the selection, they'll be forced to join the common army and will continue to train in the school for the upcoming war.
