Chapter 1 - Avan Neidleest

"He's human, but was never a part of humanity."

-------------------------------------------------------

It was at the summer morning of April 1, XXXX, it was the day for the head of the Neidleest family to give birth to her heir. Her maid was all there in the process to help her give birth. "Push madame!"

"ARGHHHH!!!" The cold sweat and the pain that a woman must bear to give birth into this world is unbearable. As a woman needs to sacrifice all of her mana that she currently has to try and forge a connection with the baby. To prevent such complications and disabilities.

A mark appeared on Carpei Neidleest's head. The flow of mana appeared all around her and everything suddenly broke like glass.

The small bits of mana in the area disappeared and the large bump on her stomach disappeared and a human baby began to materialize in front of them.

Despite her being incredibly weak from the process, she stood up and grabbed the baby in the air.

The maid was incredibly afraid of her state, "Milady! Please take some rest, I'll be taking care of him. You're completely drained of mana, please rest!"

But Carpei didn't budge as he held the child in her arms. Tears flowed down from her face, "You're the only reminder that he's still here. You're so beautiful, just like him." But as if her life was being drained from her, she tried to stay conscious but she immediately fell asleep, holding the baby within her arms.

The maid let out a sigh and put the blanket over her mistress's body. "Get some rest milady."

She took the baby that was on her arms and saw that it was crying incredibly loudly. She raised her hand, "Sleep."

She was about to put him in the baby basket that was next to Carpei but she stopped as she noticed something strange.

The baby was light, too light for a baby. It felt cold. But she couldn't see through the baby's body even with a basic spell like Mana Search to check his current state.

There was no signs of life before the kid that was in front of him. "No... NO, NO! PLEASE! BE ALIVE! PLEASE! FOR MILADY!" She placed her hand on the child's chest, "Mana Transfusion!" To transfer every last bit of her mana to the kid. But there was no signs of it flowing.

The child was lifeless, as in front of her, he saw the child began to turn pale.

The maid was exhausted, not knowing what to do, she got out and ran across the beautiful street of Arcanious while it was raining.

She ran and ran until she saw the house completely filled with greenery and vines coming all around it.

She began to bang on the door, "TREGA! ATEZ! HELP US! PLEASE!"

"Huh... what's wrong? Its five in the morning..." Atez opened the door and saw the maid's crying face as he was holding the baby. "You're Carpei's... what's going on?"

"This child, I don't know, but he's dead! This is Carpei's son!"

"WHAT!?" He then began to cast Mana Search on the child and Mana Transfusion as the maid did but to no avail. "Come in!" He grabbed the child off her hands and immediately and brought him to his own kitchen table. "Trega! Grab the Rod of Shock in the basement!"

Trega came out of the room upstairs and she was scrubbing her eyes as she just woke up. "Huh... what's going on?"

"Do it! This is Carpei's son we're talking about!"

"Carpei-!?" As if something about her changed as the mana around her suddenly shifted to her feet. Her beautiful figure and her long legs suddenly changed as her lower half body turned into a beast. A werewolf to be exact. Brown colored fur and long claws on her feet began to scratch the floor underneath her. She moved quick as a lightning as she quickly disappeared with a single step and no sound, and reappeared in front of Atez. "Here!"

"Now, back off!" Atez commanded and everyone around him complied, leaving him and the child. He raised the Rod of Shock. It was short and thick, and it looked like a handle of a sword. A small needle came out of the top of it and the volatile electricity was raging everywhere.

As he was about to stab the baby's heart to directly imbue mana into his heart to try and revive it, Atez stopped for a moment.

He turned off the Rod of Shock and placed his head on the baby's chest. His heart was beating. He opened up his Mana Search and couldn't see a flow of mana on the baby's heart.

He put his hands to the baby's face and he could feel a faint breeze as the baby was breathing. "Hey, hey, hey... This basically destroys every law of mana there is..."

"What do you mean! Please! Do everything you can, this is Carpei's hope!" The maid began to lower her head to plead.

"He's alive. But... I'm afraid that this child is the first in the world. To be born without a single ounce of mana in its body."
