Chapter 3 - 3- Embracing a New Identity

Butler Bu entered the room, his face etched with concern yet showing signs of relief upon seeing me awake. He had an aura of authority mixed with a touch of paternal care, making me instinctively feel a little more at ease.

"Young Lady, you gave us quite a scare," he said, his voice steady but with an undertone of worry. "How are you feeling now?"

I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. This was real. I was Xiao Xinya, at least for now. "I'm feeling a bit better, thank you," I replied, trying to sound confident despite the confusion swirling in my mind.

Butler Bu nodded, clearly relieved. "That's good to hear. You've been through a lot recently, and we were all quite worried about you."

I frowned slightly, trying to piece together the fragments of Xiao Xinya's life that were slowly merging with my own memories. "What... what exactly happened to me?"

Butler Bu hesitated for a moment before speaking. "You've been under a lot of stress lately, Young Lady. With the recent family business issues and the pressure from your social obligations, it's no wonder you've been feeling unwell. Perhaps it would be best for you to rest and take things slowly for a while."

I nodded, trying to process this information. So, Xiao Xinya had been dealing with a lot of stress. That explained some of the emotions and memories that were flooding my mind. But what about me? How did I end up here? And where was Xiao Xinya's soul now?

"Butler Bu," I began cautiously, "I know this might sound strange, but I feel like I've lost some memories. Could you help me by telling me more about myself? About my life and family?"

Butler Bu looked at me with a mix of surprise and concern. "Of course, Young Lady. What would you like to know?"

"Everything," I said, realizing that understanding Xiao Xinya's life was crucial if I was going to navigate this new reality. "Start from the beginning."

Butler Bu took a seat, his expression thoughtful. "You are Xiao Xinya, the only daughter of the prestigious Xiao family. Your father, Mr. Xiao, is the head of the family and oversees the family's extensive business empire. Your mother, Madam Xiao, passed away when you were very young, and you've been raised by your father and the staff here at the estate."

I listened intently, absorbing every detail. "What about my friends? My social life?"

"You have a close circle of friends from your school days, as well as connections from various social events and charity functions. You've always been very active in the social scene, known for your beauty and grace," Butler Bu explained.

As he spoke, more memories and emotions began to surface. I could see glimpses of parties, friends laughing, and social gatherings. It was overwhelming, but I needed to know more.

"And the family business?" I asked.

"The Xiao family business is vast, encompassing real estate, finance, and several other sectors. Your father has been grooming you to take over some of the responsibilities, although he has always been protective of you," Butler Bu said, his eyes softening with a hint of nostalgia.

I nodded slowly, trying to make sense of it all. Xiao Xinya's life was so different from my own, yet here I was, living it. "Thank you, Butler Bu. This... this helps a lot."

"Of course, Young Lady. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask," he said, standing up. "I'll leave you to rest now."

As Butler Bu left the room, I sat back on the bed, my mind racing. This was my life now, at least for the foreseeable future. I had to embrace it, understand it, and figure out how to navigate this new reality.

I got up and walked to the window, looking out at the beautiful gardens below. The Xiao family's estate was breathtaking, with manicured lawns, blooming flowers, and elegant architecture. It was a world of luxury and privilege, so different from my previous life.

Yet, despite the beauty and wealth, there was an undercurrent of loneliness and pressure. Xiao Xinya had been under immense stress, and now I was stepping into her shoes. I needed to be strong, to adapt, and to find my way in this new world.

As I stood there, looking out at the sprawling estate, I made a promise to myself. I would embrace this new life, learn everything I could about Xiao Xinya, and make the most of this extraordinary opportunity.

It was time to start a new chapter, not just in this life, but in my own journey. And I was determined to make it a remarkable one.
