Xiajun clasped and unclasped his hands as he watched Luo Junjie take the witness stand, ready for questioning. Johnathan Ellis, his attorney, moved towards him, a stack of paper in his arms.
The clerk, too, stood up from his desk to have Junjie take his oath.
"Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"
Junjie nodded solemnly. "I do."
"Please state your first and last name for the record."
"Luo Junjie."
The clerk nodded and went back to his seat before Johnathan Ellis moved forward, as if on cue.
"So," Johnathan Ellis started, flipping through some papers. "Mister Luo. What do you do for a living?"
"I work in a water supply company based in Guangzhou."
