Xiajun eased back in his plush armchair and let out a loud sigh.
Shao had been sentenced to life in prison at the trial a few days ago and now everything was calm once again. Xiajun had visited Miss Suyin's residence once again and wasn't much surprised to see that there was no trace of her. Her soul had finally moved on, it seemed.
Xiajun was just drowsing off when his phone rang rather very loudly. Or it just seemed that loud as nobody but him lived in his gigantic house. Xiajun frowned as the phone kept ringing and then leaned forward to pick it up, frustrated that he just can't catch a moment of peace.
"Who is it?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. It was clear to whoever was at the other end of the receiver that he wasn't in the mood to talk.
"Detective Jun?" someone asked. It wasn't a voice Xiajun recognized.
Xiajun scowled. "Who's asking?"
The voice- man, rather- cleared his throat. "I've a job for you. My name's Wu Donghai. I'm sure you know who I am, detective."
"Wu Donghai, eh?" Xiajun knew who that was, of course.
Wu Donghai, or most commonly known as CEO Wu of the Y Corporation, one of the biggest business of China, bringing in an annual capital of 100 million yuan and that's not even the base amount.
What might the CEO of Y Corporation want with him, Xiajun wondered.
"You can speak up, CEO Wu," Xiajun smirked. "After all, it's not like I can bite you through the receiver, haha."
CEO Wu didn't laugh.
"Do you know my son?"
"Pardon?" Yes... in fact, he was aware of who CEO Wu's son was. He was the chairperson of the Chinese branches of Wu Hotels, a subsidiary of Y Corporation.
"Yes, your son...whatwashisname...." Xiajun tried to remember but couldn't. Well, he didn't care much anyways.
"Wu Yanlin," the CEO sighed. "I've a case for you regarding him. If you want to hear the details, I need you to come to the Guangzhou branch of Y Corp. tomorrow. I'll be in my office waiting for you, Detective."
With a click from the other side, the line went dead.
Xiajun laughed to himself as he placed his phone back down on the coffee table, but then picked it up again and opened the web browser with his fast fingers. He typed in 'Wu Yanlin' and then browsed through the results, hoping to get a whiff of this case that CEO Wu sounded so worried over. Surely, his son wasn't assassinated... right?
"Hmm..." a mumble escaped Xiajun's lips as his glazed eyes scanned an article with the bold, black head line: 'Wu Hotel's Chairperson found injured near front gate of Y Corporation HQ!'
Xiajun felt his eyebrows furrow as he realized what had happened and then he tossed his phone on the sofa next to him. So Wu Yanlin has been found injured. Judging from the date of the article he just read, the case happened only a couple days ago when usual office workers found a bloodied man lying on the front steps of Y Corporation branch in Hong Kong.
How interesting, Xiajun thought as he drifted off to sleep right there on his armchair.
