Chereads / I Wanted To Save My Mother So I Became A Hero(LN) / Chapter 13 - Volume 1 - Chapter 13: What A Cheat!

Chapter 13 - Volume 1 - Chapter 13: What A Cheat!

Finally coming back to the inn after the previous incident, I was welcomed with a hug by Hain.

「Where did you go? I was so worried!」

「I uh, I just helped a couple of adventurers that were being attacked by a low leveled monster.」

I was scratching my head trying to take my gaze away from Hain. She might not believe me and think I'm cheating on her or something. She must be feeling skeptical. Nevertheless, she seems to have understood.

「Is that so? Hmm... I don't think a kid like Yukio would lie to me anyway.」

She put on an innocent smile. This only means she trust me!

「Y-Yeah, thanks a bunch. By the way, would you like to come later evening to the bar? The adventurers invited me to drink.」

「A bar?– Sure.」

She placed her finger on her lips for a while and decided to come along with me. I guess that's settled. But before I forgot, I told Hain I'll be taking my leave to go to the master blacksmith who said he'd forge me my spear. She on the other hand stayed and helped the work in the inn.

So I went to the north-eastern district once again to come and check out his work. While on my way, I caught sight of a magic shop that seem to have sold grimoires so I came to check before going to the blacksmith. It probably won't take that much time anyway.

I headed towards the magic shop that sold magic books, when I approached the shop, the door leading inside suddenly opened as if to welcome me in. Swallowing my saliva, I proceeded going inside.

「My my, another guest. Say young man, what element are you most suitable with?」

A tall woman almost the same size as me appeared from the shadows and asked me a question, it was a surprising experience. Nevertheless, she was one of those onee-sans like Hain, her outfit was that of a standard witch suit in blue color and she held a beautiful mahogany staff in her right hand with a blue round crystal at the tip. She sat down on a spindle chair elegantly and soundlessly like a ghost.

「Light element. But if possible, are there any wind element books you could sell?」

Strangely, her eyes seem to have sparkled interest when I mentioned "Light" and she looked at me with the same kind of amused expression.

「Light, light, light. How rare of an element that is.」

She slowly stood up from that chair and approached me soundlessly as last time. She looked at my eyes as if to read my mind, her face was so close our noses were about to touch each other.

「Did you know that, most of who the light element is given to, are either priests, paladins or the heroes?」

My eyes widened and my heart began to throb madly as I tried to swallow in her words. I started thinking of a plan just in case.

「Are you perhaps, a paladin? Or, the legendary hero?」

「I-I'm not a paladin, nor a hero.」

She looked at me closer to the point our noses were barely touching each other. Her dark purple hair smelled nice, a bit like olive. Her dark blue eyes was scary though, it felt as thought she had no thoughts at all.

「Is that so?」

She giggled right after and withdrawn to keep her distance from me again.

「I shouldn't pry into a customer's private things. If you are ever the hero, please try to visit me sometimes and I'm sure we'll get along. Alright?」

She winked while smiling at me.

She sounded really carefree and enthusiastic, not like how her looks are supposed to say so. But atleast she kept her curiosity on hold.

「Here. I have the basics for wind magic. All the first-tier wind spells are written here.」

She, in her hands held a book with a white and green cover. It had the wind symbol engraved on it's front.

「So how much will it cost?」

「About 32 silver coins.」

Expensive! But then again, it's business and ofcourse magic is valuable. I'll just come back here to learn more magic when I get enough money.

「A-Alright, I'll buy that one.」

I placed my left hand behind my back and mantle then used the"Dimensional Storage"skill to bring out the money bag.

After counting exactly 30 silver coins, I gave it to the witch onee-san and she handed me the magic book. To check if it was a fraud, I opened it just in case, but it seems that was unnecessary since it wasn't a fraud afterall. I switched my gaze to the witch and she smiled at me, probably to reassure me.

I exited the magic book shop and returned back the money bag inside my "Dimensional Storage"skill, along with the wind magic book that I've bought.

After that purchase, I went straight to the blacksmiths shop, unhindered. The moment I opened the door to the shop, I saw the dwarf sitting on a wooden chair. In his hands was an iron spear of around 2 meters. It's head was modified to look more like a short sword. I knew this ojii-san really wanted me to wield a sword.

「I see that you're done.」

「Aye, am done alright. Heads up.」

While sitting on his chair, he threw the spear at me. But it wasn't to hurt me since he threw it not from the tip but by the sides so I could catch it with ease.

So I observed. This spear is not bad, it has the perfect weight of a weapon I could ask for and it's hardness is very comfortable to the touch. The blade on it's head was short and looked like a shortsword attached to an iron pole.

「Follow me, lad.」

He led me to a staircase leading probably to his basement. The walls were made of stone bricks and lit with torches. We continued to walk deeper and deeper, atleast 20 minutes until we've finally reached our destination.

「This is where I test them weapons, y'see.」

We suddenly stopped next to a giant spruce door. The blacksmith placed his left hand on his jean pockets and pulled out a rusty looking bronze key. He chucked it on the door lock and it swung itself open.

The moment it opened, the scene I saw was that of a giant football field except there wasn't a crowd and the space was empty

「Ya come down there and show me what ya can do.」

「Eh? What do you mean?」

I had a perplexed expression currently. I don't understand what he's talking about what I can do. What if he saw I messed up because I never knew how to wield a spear in the first place?

And so, I looked again at the spear I was currently holding. It doesn't really matter, I just need to show him something.

『Skill,"Spearsmanship D"has been learned.』

Eh? Alvis, how did I get that skill? I just started holding the spear just now. What's more... D Ranked at the beginning?!

『Answer, master has been continuously training with a pole and swung the latter more than 31 times with the intention of learning spearsmanship. Thus after obtaining a spear weapon, his proficiency is reflected and the skill was learnt with the accumulated amount of experience points.』

But still, don't you think it's too much?

『Answer, negative. As master is the hero, his skill learning speed is 100x faster than that of normal.』

Ugh... Being a hero is a cheat.

I seem to have lost my Attention on the surroundings and forgot I'm with the blacksmith dwarf.

「Oi! Ya okay lad? Ye been spacin' out for a minute now. Get yar ass ova' there!」

Oof! Did he just give me a push from behind?

The blacksmith was clearly being impatient already, so I ran towards the center of the presumably huge training field and lifted my gaze to look at the dwarf from afar. He was a hundred meters away from me.

「Show me yer skills boy!」

Ah, so that's what he's on about. He wants me to prove that I can use a spear even though it's not my fated weapon.

I gripped the weapon tightly by the handle. I didn't know what to do after that, since this dwarf is very sensitive to movement and has an inhuman analysis skill.

『The skill,"Spearsmanship D"is active. Please be at ease and move, master. As if to attack an opponent, slash with all your might.』

Is that so...

Rather, even now when Alvis told me that, I felt anxious. But even so...

I swung the spear and almost immediately after the blade hit the ground, I stopped it, causing it to generate a gale of wind that blew away not only all the dust around me but cracked the ground itself without being touched. The tachikaze from the spear's blade reverberated in the whole area afterwards and it only lasted for a brief moment.

「Yar amazing lad!」

An incoming praise from the blacksmith dwarf was what first came out of his mouth. He hurriedly approached me by jogging as fast as his little legs can get him.

「*Hearty Laugh* Yer body seems sturdier and stronger than it looks! So hows that spear, young lad?」

「It's a very sturdy and sharp spear...」

「Right? I made it with black-iron! Ores, and equipment materials are getting a bit lacking here lately so I might charge ya a bit more than it should be, if yer alright with that.」

Black-iron? What's that, Alvis?

『Answer, Black-Iron is an uncommon ore found in deep mountain mines. They are 30% more durable than ordinary iron. Ores are ranked the same as items. Normal, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra Rare, Epic, Legendary, Godly.』

Well, at this point, I may as well come to mine some someday when I gain a skill that needs materials. To be more precise, I need blacksmith skills.

I moved my gaze to the dwarven blacksmith, he stared back at me in confusion. But since I felt skeptical, I won't ask him to teach me blacksmithing for now. Since I wasn't sure he would agree with teaching someone something he's good at for free.

From what he just mentioned, it seems like ores and materials for making equipment are in demand right now... Somehow, I felt that my face twisted into a scheming smile.

「How much is this weapon, Mr. Blacksmith?」

「How does 280,000 Sigil sound? That's 14 silver coins.」

It's not that pricey, I'll take it. This is investment anyway.

Finally, we left the blacksmith's shop after paying the owner 14 silver coins. I got my first ever real weapon. A spear.

It had a special feature to it too. I'm not sure but the old man probably added this feature thinking I wouldn't find out. I'll repay his kindness the next time I come back to his place.

Now on to our next plan, Alvis...

I left the north-eastern district stealthily and swiftly. I headed towards the nearest patch of trees I could find by a few kilometers from the town and released the Armorizard that I've dominated from my storage skill.

It appears that it had already woke up. The moment it fell from the"Dimensional Storage"skill's vortex, it sat cross-legged on it's two legs.

Well, in any case... Let's give this a try.

「Hey! Can you hear me!?」

The armorizard stared at me, it seemed to be in an addled state. Then it finally did something for once.

It crashed it's body on the ground to stop sitting, and approached me boldly.

「Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running awa- Bulumm!」

The armorizard suddenly licked my face and muffled my voice. Thankfully, I shut my mouth by instinct. Then what was weird was, it was acting like a dog? It drooled and jumped around alot, making the ground shake slightly.

「H-Hey! Stop that!」

It did as I said, although I swear I saw a faint violet glow in it's eyes when I ordered it to. It's most likely the effect of the"Dominator"skill. I first wanted to ask it if I can take it's armor without hurting it.

But seeing that it won't or rather can't answer my question, I instead asked the wisest person I know. Alvis!

『Answer, Yes. The armor of the armorizard can be removed delicately through the use of the"Processing"skill.』

Well, let's do that then.

Light poured and engulfed the armorizard whole. It tried to fight back, but I assured it that it isn't harmful.

Clatter... Clatter...

Atleast 500 scales were on the ground. And from atop it was... A giant pink skinned lizard. I almost laughed but I kept it in, and instead picked up one of the scales to analyze it.

Name: Armorizard Bone Scales

Attack: 5

Durability: 980,000 / 980,000

Weight: 6 Kilograms

Edible: No

Value: Epic

Price: 160,000 Sigil

Location: Centerio Continent, Freum Forest

Further Information:

An extremely valuable material dropped by a B Rank monster, the Armorizard. It is said that it's scales were able to store great amounts of kinetic energy, making it an Epic Grade item.

This is really a good product in this world, huh... I held my chin while looking at the information of the item. I can't help but smile from the results.

「High Heal.」

Like magic, because it was, the scales of the armorizard regrew completely. The overgrown lizard became more confused than it already was.

With this, I can even mass produce this one hell of an expensive material as long as I have mana. 1 bone scale was atleast 32 silver coins, and I had 500 of them.

What a cheat.

Well, putting that aside. I should go back home, it's getting late. There's still a party I have to participate in too.

I stored the armorizard in my spacial storage including the 500 bone scales.

I looked up at the sky which was now in an orange red color signifying that it's 6pm in the evening. I used Heldris to ride back to Murasaka.
