Chapter 1 - Epigraph

I open my eyes

A clear blue sky and a shining sun meet her

I squint

What a dream

How frightening

I close it once more.

Opening yet, the wind breezes and leaves dances

I turn my head, gazing at the vast stretch of green grass.

I then hear the birds calling above

The ocean waves slamming to the shoreline

Footsteps, she can hear them.

I laid still, waiting.

Heart pumping.

Listening

"You're here, at last," a familiar baritone voice echoes.

A deluge of memory flooded her, bittersweet memories.

With a clenched hand, I glare at him.

"Why?"

He kneels in front of her, raises his hand and caresses my face.

I shrank slightly from his touch. Too familiar.

My eyes glimmer with apprehension and fear, like a cornered rat.

"We finally meet."

"No."

"Don't say that."

"You are dead."

"I am?"

"Yes," I shouted, sobbing. "Yes."

"I killed you. Please stop haunting me."

"No."

"You are already dead."

"I...am"

"Please stop."

Then she wakes up, crying.

What a dream

How frightening

And stayed awake until morning comes
