"See somethin'? What do you see?"
"I see this surge of energy up ahead, but it's faint. I'd recommend for us to get close, but it's right in the middle of that battlefield, so it will be dangerous to get to."
"Guess we got no choice then! The longer we wait, the more time that Apocalyptic Weapon has to harm innocent lives," Navar rushes toward the top of the cliff, his heart pounding with anticipation, but Pikati grabs his shoulder to stop him. He gives Pikati a confused look, his eyebrows furrowed. "What are you doin', Pikati? There aint any time to be wasted."
"It isn't wise for us to go down there during their battle. We'll get killed before we touch the ground. We should wait it out until the fight dies down."
"Ok? Are you sure about that? Cause what if we wait too long and that apocalyptic weapon activates?"
"Hold on a moment. Let me see if there's something that can help us. I'm sure there is a ship here that crashed during the sky battle," Pikati activates Farsight, and he surveys the surrounding area with his bright blue eyes aglow. Despite his disappointment at not finding a spaceship, he notices an orange-skinned creature with scaly skin, four wings, four hind legs, and two arms landing a few meters to his right. He gestures toward the creature, emphasizing its presence. "That creature there is a V'nn V'nn (pronounced Vin Vin). They can fly at higher altitudes than normal creatures. If we reach a high enough distance in the sky, we can follow that energy source with a safer approach."
"Sweet! Then let's do it!" Navar steps toward the creature, but Pikati's hand on his shoulder halts him, worry etched on his face.
"Wait a minute, be careful on approaching a V'nn V'nn. They're stated to be one of the most dangerous creatures in the universe. Not only that, but they're also very hard to tame and train. They have a reputation of untameable by some of the best trainers."
Navar grins smugly at Pikati, his eyes shining with triumph. "Relax, Pikati, I got a way with animals," Navar locks eyes with the V'nn V'nn, his gaze unwavering. "Hey you, you're goin' to give us a lift somewhere. Do you have the guts? 'Cause what you gotta do is a tough task. Do you wanna do it? It's gonna be fun," Navar meets the creature's gaze with a gnarly grin, but the creature doesn't back down. They hold the stare for a few seconds before the V'nn V'nn purs and leans into Navar's chest. The V'nn V'nn squats down, readying its back for them to ride.
Pikati gasps, amazed by Navar's ability to control the wild creature with ease. "He tamed a V'nn V'nn within seconds. Most trainers take years to even get them from killing people. Incredible."
Navar and Pikati clamber onto the back of the V'nn V'nn, bracing themselves for the ride ahead. The V'nn V'nn moves backward, then, in a sudden burst of speed, propels itself into the air. "Wooo Hooo! Yeah!" Navar's hands shoot up into the air as he lets out a triumphant cheer, the thrill of the flight coursing through his veins.
Pikati activates Farsight and peers ahead to observe the flowing energy. "Hopefully, we can find out where this leads."
Navar pats the back of the V'nn V'nn. "Put some speed on it! We don't have much time to waste!" The wind rushes past their ears as the V'nn V'nn gains momentum. Out of nowhere, three neon green stinger spaceships chase after them. Navar turns around to look, and his eyebrows shoot up in shock. "Shit! They found us!" The stinger's Ion Beam pierces through the air and strikes the V'nn V'nn's wing, causing the creature to lose altitude. "Oh, shoot, we're goin' down! Pikati, hold on!" The V'nn V'nn, Navar, and Pikati tumble into a dark, cave-like area. Navar staggers to his feet, his head throbbing from the impact on the ground. "Damn, that hurt. Wait, where's Pikati? Pikati Pikati!?" Navar scans the crepuscular cave to find Pikati.
"I'm over here," Pikati's bright blue eyes shine, guiding Navar through the darkness. Once they meet, Pikati leaps on Navar's shoulder.
"Are there any enemies comin'?"
Pikati activates Farsight and looks through the cave, spotting neon green warships swarming above the atmosphere and heading toward their location. The dawn of their fate hits him, and his eyes widen in shock. "Oh no! It's an airstrike!" The torpedoes falling echo through the atmosphere, growing louder and more thunderous with each passing moment.
"What should we do?"
"All we can do is hope those torpedoes will miss us.. but on to other matters," Pikati uses Farsight to look ahead. "Dammit, we didn't figure out what's producing energy, but I can still see the traces of it. I think it'd be smart to take a picture to show someone."
"Alright," Navar removes the pager from his waist and tries to snap a picture. He scratches his head, looking puzzled because he can't see the energy. "Umm, what am I supposed to do? I don't see it."
As Navar aims his camera, the sounds of warships grow louder and closer. Pikati activates Farsight and spots the looming ships a few meters away from their location. "Go in the X-Ray filter! Hurry, there's not much time!"
Navar cuts on the X-Ray filter, and a bright energy trace appears ahead. "There we go!" After snapping the picture, he navigates to his contacts list. Then, a distant drop of torpedoes reverberates through the cave, causing a pebble to strike his screen. As a result, there's a constant flickering of his screen, making it almost impossible for him to navigate through his pager. "Dammit, my screens flickerin'. I don't know if I can send it!"
"Navar, they're coming! Hurry!" The sound of the spaceships screech through the air, growing more and more intense as they drew near.
"I'm tryin' to! Hold on!" Navar sees Jax on his contact list and sends the picture to him. "There, I sent it!" As the image is sent, the torpedoes strike the cave walls, causing rocks to rain down on Navar and Pikati. "Ah, Pikati!"
"Navar!"
We now go to the POV of Jax reading the Academy Strategies book. The sound of Jax's page beeps, the sound stopping his study. "Who in the hell is pagin' me right now?" With a squint, he examines the picture, and the jumbled words on his pager, trying to make out the details of the message. "What in the hell did Navar just send me?" He looks closer at the message and realizes what Navar is trying to say. "Energy Signature… Wait a second. That might be the energy signature for the apocalyptic weapon!" Jax jumps out of bed and puts on his Academy uniform. "I need to notify them now! This could help big time!" He bursts out of his hotel room and hurtles down the hallway, his feet pounding against the tiled floor.
