Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Loss and Abandonment!

Mia's P.O.V

Rose looked shocked, as she made this face while looking at me. The face looked like I had said something stupid, but she's not doing her normal act when she bullies me. "U-Um sis, I-" Right as I was about to ask what was wrong with Sis, we heard a voice behind us. "What are you two talking about?" I saw Rose look back as quickly as possible, with me following her, now looking at mom. "U-Um we were talking about So-" I couldn't finish what I was saying, because Rose had covered my mouth, as she instead said. "Nothing mom, don't worry about it." I don't know, the way she said that sounded like she was mad, but hurt at the same time.

"Hmm, well ok. I'm heading out, I'll be back in a little bit." She smiled softly as I pushed Rose's hand off as I said. "Bye, mom!" I was smiling as I looked back at Rose. "Ok, now what was that about?" I heard her sigh as she walked away. "It was nothing sis… better get ready for school Mia…" I watched as she was walking away, hearing her call me 'Mia' instead of 'Sis', it hurt. She's never called me Mia, unless something happened, something bad. I looked down slowly. "Sora… why does that name seem so familiar…" I felt a sharp pain in my chest when I thought of that name.

I felt tears roll down my face, but I didn't know why, I just couldn't stop crying. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, I reached for my pocket, as I noticed the burn marks from before. I felt it calling to me, I reached for it. "Mia, you ready?" I heard my sister call, snapping me back into reality. I backed up, heading to my room. "Yeah, give me a few minutes!" I yelled as I ran to my room, getting ready for school. A few minutes went by as I had put on a bright shirt, and a deep blue pair of pants. I grabbed a jacket, looking at it for a few seconds. "A black jacket? Where did I get this from?'' I don't know where I got it from, but I decided to put it on, and as I had expected it was a bit too big. I decided to keep it on, it seemed to go well with blue and all, I grabbed my bag and left my room. When I had closed my door, my sister was waiting for me by my door. She looked at me, as she looked shocked. "W-Where did you get that jacket…" I shrugged as I responded. "I don't know, it was just in my room."

I heard her sigh softly, with a bit of pain in her sigh. "Hey sis… are you alright?" I asked her as she nodded slowly, she turned away walking down the stairs to the front door. She stopped at the door and looked at me. "Remember no matter what, don't forget the person you truly love." As soon as she said that, she left the house, leaving me alone. "Don't… Don't forget the one I truly love? What does that mean?" I thought as I went downstairs, heading out to catch up with my sister.

Sora's P.O.V

I slowly opened my eyes, to have the sunlight in my face, I looked at the ceiling. The color was pink, with some green patches. "It's been almost a week now… and I haven't heard Higetsu's voice since that fight." I sighed as I rolled over, to see a woman next to me, I quickly sat up taking the blanket with me, uncovering her. She had only a shirt on, as I blushed looking away. "C-Cherry please wake up!' I yelled softly, slowly, and gently shaking her. A few seconds later she wakes up, sitting up rubbing her eyes, yawning softly and cutely. "Mmm, Sora? What's wrong?" she asked, looking at me half asleep, "W-Why are you in bed w-with me, a-and why are you only wearing an s-shirt?!" She looked down slightly, thinking or just processing what I said. I saw her face flash red as she quickly hopped out of the bed. "U-Um, I-I gotta go now!" She quickly ran out of the room for a few seconds before running back in. "Huh? C-Cherry what are you do-." Before I could finish my sentence, Cherry grabbed me, pulling me to the door. "A-Actually you leave, this is my room!" The next thing I knew, I was being thrown out of the room.

"What just happened?" I just looked back to see her door closed, I sighed as she quickly opened the door, as she quickly threw a set of clothes. "Here, now get ready for school!" I nodded, picking up the clothes, with her closing the door quickly. I headed for the bathroom. I entered the bathroom closing the door, as I sat my clothes on the sink, and faced the shower. I reached for the faucet in the shower, turning on the water, adjusting it to be slightly hot, but not too hot. I got undressed, stepping into the shower letting the water hit me. "It's already been one week since what happened with Higetsu…" I sighed as I grabbed the soap, slowly scrubbing My body down. I let the water wash away the soap on me, as I then started to wash my hair. "I ended up killing Higetsu…" After washing the hair wash out of my hair, I stepped out of the shower, reaching for a towel. I dried myself out looking in the mirror. "Or did I?" I turned my head slightly to see a mark on my neck, a Pentagram. "The mark has yet to go away, but Higetsu's dead! I killed him" I yelled in my head, as my body started to heat up slightly, quickly realizing this, I tried to calm down. I touched the mark with my fingers, the mark was hot, like a mini fire. "If he's still alive he may go after Rose and Phoebe…" I looked down thinking about what happened after the fight.

"Sora… get away from Mia right now." Phoebe's voice echoed in my head. "It's your fault she is this badly hurt" I flinched looking down, as tears started to form slowly. "She's right… it's all my fault…" I felt tears go down my face, as I grabbed my head, feeling my body heat up again. "She died protecting me… I-It's all my fault!" I banged my head on the sink, crying. "I couldn't save her!... it's my fault she's dead! I killed her!" I closed my eyes, as I cried softly, flames had started to form on me slowly, I felt the heat of the flames, quickly opening my eyes, seeing the flames. "C-Calm down… don't let it get out of control…!" The flames had started to fade away, slowly but surely fading till there was nothing left. I sighed as I grabbed the clothes getting dressed. "I can't let those flames get out of control… I can't let them harm no one else…" I had finished getting dressed as I looked at myself in the mirror, seeing my hair, now had a bit of red in it.

"This must be due to the flames… maybe the more I use it, the more it changes," I looked down, grabbing my jacket. "or maybe it's a sign he's getting closer to returning…" I slowly breathed in when I looked in the mirror again, to see a familiar face, I flinched when I saw Mia in the mirror. "M-Mia…" I felt my body shake a bit, as I saw Mia put her hand on my shoulder, or at least as she did in the mirror, I didn't feel her hand on shoulder. I put my hand on my shoulder as I saw it touch her hand, but for me all I touched was my shoulder, as tears formed in my eyes. The moment I blinked she disappeared from the mirror. I wiped away my tears as I faced the bathroom door. "Ok, now to act like nothing's wrong!" I put on a fake smile and left the bathroom.

I was heading downstairs and when I reached the bottom step, I saw a man and woman sitting at the table. "Hmm, oh morning Sora, I see you and Cherry is awake." I smiled softly, sitting down. "Yeah, sorry for all the noise in the morning." Cherry's mom smiled as I sat down in a chair, as Cherry's mom sat a plate of food down in front of me. "Thank you, ma'am," I said, as I looked at the food, there were some eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. "No problem Sora, now eat up." I nodded as I grabbed my fork, and right before I could eat, I felt someone pinch my cheek. "O-Ow what the heck!" I heard a small laugh behind me. I quickly look back to see Cherry behind me, laughing, moving her hand away from my face. "Why did you do that Cherry!?" She laughed again a bit, before patting my head. "Because you were about to start eating without me." I looked at her to see her pouting a bit, with me smiling softly. "I'm sorry Cherry, but you did force me out of your room,"

I froze a bit, as I felt someone glare at me, as I looked back to see Cherry's dad glaring at me. "Why were you in her room hmm?" He asked me as I was about to say something, with Cherry's mom stepping in. "I'll take the blame, we didn't have another room for a while," she had said as she then looked at me. "So we had him and our daughter sleep in the same room, but he should have had an air mattress to sleep on right Sora?" She smiled gently but had a slight glare that said 'Don't touch my daughter.' I gulped and nodded. "Y-Yeah, it's just Cherry fell, landing on me, that's what all that noise was r-right Cherry?" She jumped, as she nodded quickly, looking confused. "Y-Yeah, that's what happened." She said, smiling softly. Both of her parents sighed. "Well ok, I believe you two." Her mother said as she brought a plate of food for Cherry, as she sat down. "Yay food!"

Cherry smiled as she grabbed her fork, and started to eat. I couldn't help but smile softly, as I started to eat my food. While eating I looked up to see the clock, as it was now 7:30 am. I quickly finished eating, as I stood up, causing them all to look at me. "S-Sorry I have work in ten minutes, I need to go." Cherry's father smiled. "I respect a man who is willing to work, but you can be a little late. Ever since you got here, you've been working, so take some time to rest, I'll let your boss know. "I shook my head slowly. "No it's ok, I need to work, to cover my portion of the bills and payments here." I smiled as best as I could, as I went to the front door, grabbing my bag. "Well, I'm off! See-ya later tonight!" I said smiling as I opened the door, and left the house.

Cherry's P.O.V

I watched as Sora had left the house, and my mom sighed. "Everything ok mom?" I asked as she nodded gently. "Yeah, It's just Sora… he's been through a lot, his parents are nowhere to be found." I saw my dad get up, and walked to the window, looking like he was watching Sora leave. "Yeah, but he's a fighter, a normal kid whose parents went missing, would have broken down." My mom nodded, getting up, going to dad, hugging him from behind. "Yeah, you're right, he's a tough kid." I smiled a bit seeing how much my parents seemed to care about Sora. "One thing that worries me is that scar on his neck…" I heard mom say, as dad looked at her. "Yeah, how did he get that, it looked like it was burned into his skin." I looked down as I remember seeing a mark on his neck. "Who could do such a thing to a child, and a kind and caring one at that." I had finished eating, as I spoke up. "What about the family he was with before?" My parents looked at me. "Oh I don't think so, they were a kind and caring family, they treated him like their own son." I grabbed my bag as I walked to them. "Then why isn't Sora with them? Why aren't they helping him?" I saw a bit of hesitation in mom's eyes. "W-well maybe they couldn't at the moment." I sighed as I headed for the door. "Well, I have to go to school now." My parents looked at me, with my mom smiling warmly. "Ok.., well have a good day at school!" Mom had said to me when I walked up to them. "Ok! Bye, love ya mom, and dad!" I smiled slightly as I headed out the door, walking to school. I was walking to school humming, as I passed by someone with deep blue hair. "Is that… Mia?" I asked myself as I noticed she was running up to someone with black hair, with purple hair dye mixed in.

Sora's P.O.V

I was walking to work, sighing. "I hope the manager doesn't complain about me being late again…" I said to myself while passing a big building, looking at it, a bit of sadness built up inside me as I looked at my old school building. "It's been a while since I last went to school.."  I thought as I then sighed softly as I felt tears form, as I looked down a bit. "Mia…" I began to cry a bit as memories started to flood at a fast pace.

Sora's memory P.O.V

"Sora… get away from Mia right now." I felt my heart drop, not knowing what to say. "W-What…" I saw Phoebe slightly glare at me, as she sighed. "Move now Sora." I don't know why, but I growled softly like my instincts were telling me to keep Mia away from her. "Don't growl at me boy." I slightly flinched, as I tried to crawl away, but my legs wouldn't move. "It's your fault she is this badly hurt" I flinched again looking down, with tears in my eyes. I felt my grip on her weaken, with Phoebe walking towards me. I looked at her, seeing a glare as I had never seen before. I felt my body shake slightly, my grip on Mia weakened slightly, as Phoebe grabbed my head pulling me up, causing me to let go of Mia. "How dare you defy me, after all, I have done for you," Her grip on my head/hair tightened as I could only look her in the eyes. "you damned spoiled brat!"

She threw me to the ground, kicking me in the gut as I felt tears form slowly. She just looked down at me glaring as she walked over to Mia, kneeling putting her fingers on her neck. She growled a bit loud as she got up, and moved quickly to kick me again, but with more force blowing me back a bit, as I coughed up a bit of blood. She then grabbed my hair again pulling me up, forcing me to look at her. "How dare you…!" She yelled slightly as she threw my head down on the ground. "She's dead!" When she said that I instantly knew who she meant, I slowly looked at Mia, just laying there, motionless. I could only just look as Phoebe continued to say. "She's dead because of you! You brought that damned demon into our home!" She walked over to me, and started to kick me in the side, and hit me in the face, multiple times, till my entire body was sore, and eventually she grabbed my shirt and started to drag me to the circle they had drawn, I don't know, but she dragged me there as I tried to resist, but my body was too weak to resist, as she somewhat threw me into the circle.

The moment I landed in the circle, it started to flash a bright light that was slowly engulfing me, and I felt all my strength leave my body. The light slowly turned into crimson flames, Phoebe started to chant something in a language I didn't understand, and it seemed like the flames were starting to surround me. It felt like my skin was slowly burning, as my vision was slowly becoming blurry, as I slowly became lightheaded, eventually passing out.

I slowly opened my eyes after what felt like hours, as I slowly sat up, to look around at my surroundings, to see I was in an alley somewhere in the middle of the city. I struggled to stand up, my legs shaking, and aching like crazy. I took one step and instantly fell to the ground hard, I coughed up blood, looking to my side as best as I could to see a mirror. I looked at myself and saw my hair color had changed a bit near the tips of my hair, they were now a crimson red. "My hair…" I started to stand up again, but instantly fell back down. "Dammit… I can barely move now…" My breathing started to slow down a bit as my body felt heavy. My eyes were slowly closing. "Guess this is it… I'll be able to see Mia again…" I heard footsteps walking towards me, as I struggled to move my head to look at whoever it was. My eyes widened as far as they could when I thought I saw deep blue hair color, golden eyes, and a soft smile. "M… Mia…" I managed to say before passing out again.

I quickly woke up, nearly jumping out of what felt like a bed. I looked around to see a pink and brown room. "Where… where am I?" I thought to myself, as I heard a door open, with me quickly turning to face the person who opened the door. "Cherry?..." Cherry just looked at me, as she smiled softly, with her walking up to me hugging me tightly. "I-I was worried you had died… when I found you, you were barely moving…" When she hugged me, I blushed softly, but hugged her back gently, rubbing her back. "I thought I was dead too… but it would have been better if you left me to die…" Her head quickly shot up as I saw she had a bit of tears in her eyes. "W-What!?... Why would I let you die!?..." I sighed as I looked away, knowing that if I looked her in the eyes I might not be able to hold what composure I had left. I slightly moved her out of the way, with her of course resisting, but I managed to move her as I tried to get out of the bed. The moment my foot touched the ground I fell instantly, hitting the ground hard. "S-Sora?!" I heard Cherry say as I struggled to stand up.
