Chapter 1 - Amusement Park

Winnie was in front of him, well in his head she was closer than ever even if between them stood a security fence and a dozen security guards. She finally heard his voice, in real life. Not the one her heart consoled with when she saw his beautiful lips move, no. This time she heard Benjie's voice for real, she listened to those people around her, that fervor of great nights.

Thinking about it, Winnie thought to herself as she had imagined this day several times, but that now, at this concert, life was different, she was making sounds that made her more beautiful than she was. had seen before. She turned to her friend who was accompanying her and admitted to him tearfully:

It's beautiful.

Elton, her longtime friend who had given her that momentous night, smiled at her and hugged her, saying:

โ€• Happy Birthday Winwin, it is my pleasure to offer you this. You deserve it.

โ€• Thank you very much Tonny.

Then two piano notes caught Winnie's attention, in them she heard more than just a note, she had heard all her joie de vivre there. This once inaudible music she got to hear, for real. She had imagined the sound of that song, that piano. She had imagined so many times what it would be like to hear Benjie sing it, to see him sing, for real.

โ€• It's your song, Elton told him. He finally received it.

โ€• Yes ..., she replied, her eyes riveted on the subdued scene.

There he was, in the middle of this big stage, in front of this big crowd, and he was singing a song that had been sent to him by a fan. Who could believe it, even Winnie didn't believe it.

โ€• This song was sent to me by a fan, he said before starting to sing, I hope he or he is around tonight or watching us. It's a beautiful song and I'm happy to be able to perform it for you, Winwin.

He had said her name ... He had said it, she had heard it from his mouth.

Winnie's heart pounded, her eyes wet with tears as those ears began to rock to that song she had written while watching the moon one summer evening. For her, at that moment, it was just him and her in this crowded room. Her heart was beating so fast that she had to hold his chest for fear it would come out, the emotion was so great.

โ€• This song ... it is ... for him ...

โ€• That is true ?

โ€• Yes ..., then a smile came to her as she was still crying, I'm so glad he's received it.

Winnie wiped her tears with the sleeves of her blue sweater and replied smiling more:

โ€• You are right ! Go Benjie! ...

At that moment, Winnie stopped when she saw his gaze on her, for a moment they fixed each other and Winnie could catch a glimpse of a slight smile on her lips. It was almost as if he had heard her despite all those voices and recognized only hers, as if he had known it was her.

But Winnie didn't believe in this illusion any longer, he smiled and then looked away, showing that no doubt for a person to do this effect with a brief glance was common. All the young women were boasting with one look, it was nothing special, yet Winnie still felt strange after that shared look that, inside her, had lasted forever.

Around eleven o'clock the concert ended. The room, including Winnie and Elton, gradually emptied and then dispersed into the alleys of the city. As he was about to leave, Elton stopped Winnie and said:

โ€• Hold on ! We have to go back to the supermarket, I have to get some stuff for our last dinner in Seoul anyway!

Winnie was exhausted, she didn't want to enter where she had come from yet when she had just been manhandled by a crowd of hysterical fans. She huffed and replied:

โ€• Oh no Tonny ... We will have eaten at the airport tomorrow, I'm exhausted.

He trod the steps that separated him from her and took her arm. The young man pulled her inside with a thousand grievances:

โ€•You can't be so lazy, I want to create memories for you and you ... You're complaining! Frankly, who wants to leave Korea without tasting a good little dish cooked by a cordon bleu?

โ€• Me, answered the young woman casually.

They stationed themselves in front of the large store in the mall. Elton turned to her put his hand on Winnie's head and said:

โ€• Okay, since you seem too tired, I'm going to avoid you going around the shelves, stay here and don't move ok?

โ€• When you say: stay here, that already means "don't move", right?

Elton thought for a moment then ended up saying bored:

โ€• Arrha you tire me with your long thought! Wait for me there, is that all okay?

Winnie smiled at him and replied:

โ€• Alright daddy!

โ€• Stop, I'm not your father! cried the young man as he walked away.

Winnie laughed about it anyway and then sat down waiting for him to come back. As the wait grew interminable, probably because Elton had the "eternal dissatisfied" syndrome and did not know what to choose between potatoes and sweet potatoes; Winnie decided to keep busy with her phone. She looked at the photos from the concert, of Benjie. As she was glad to have taken such beautiful pictures of him, she was angels at the thought of being able to post them on her Instagram page.

As she scrolled through the screen of her phone, Winnie sensed a presence next to her, she who thought she was alone was scared but did not show it blatantly. Winnie the cowardly occurrence was making a Herculean effort not to show her doubt, but she began to quietly text Elton, letting him know she was probably in danger. The young man too busy choosing his ingredients didn't mind and left his cell phone beeped.

Outside, meanwhile, Winnie was paralyzed with dread, the figure, visibly masculine, was dressed in black and wore a hood that made his face impossible to see, the dim light in the hallway didn't help either. identify and Winnie also had too much to give him a direct look. She just looked at him out of the corner of her eye, where she saw him come closer and crouch down next to her.

- Answer pity, she whispered, answer ...
