Chapter 16 - Imposter 《IIX》

The fuckers ran!

They didn't give two shits about their quote on quote comrades, at all!

Gray didn't need anything to realise they ran, the sounds from them running, he assumed, as fast as possible was so loud the entire corridor woke up!

Alicia and Marina just stared before sighing in relief and shaking their heads. They let out smiles before collapsing on the floor.

"Brother, you can relax now."

Alicia laughed at his tensed body in its fighting stance.

However, she stopped laughing and grinning quite quickly as she saw his left hand's fingers twitching in a wall gripping shape.

Then, under the sight of all who came out, lightning coalesced around Gray's head before taking the shape of a crown and around his eyes. His launch towards the bandits direction caused a shockwave to come into existence alongside a bunch of blood splatters along the walls.

Alicia stared at where he was and eventually let out a small sound.

"Eh?"

=--=(Back to Gray)=--=

Gray sped through the halls, sending out constant EMPs as he charged towards the bandits. The only reason he was able to follow them was the residual charge, of the beam, that attached to their clothing in the form of static electricity.

Gray's speed slowly increased as lightning began to form a cloak and a pair of gauntlets and boots. The further they completed themselves, the more blood that began to leak out of Gray's skin. It got to the point where he was leaving a near connected blood trail.

Then, Gray saw the bandits.

In a last ditch effort to kill them, Gray grounded himself and channeled all the built up lightning, both around him and attached to him, and shaped it into a ring and a dot. The ring was big enough to fit around his index and middle fingers next to each other. The dot was as big as his pinky's fingernail.

Gray came to a stop and then, released the dot.

The beam produced couldn't be compared to the other one, not in power, not in energy, not in control.

Not in the aftereffects.

Nor in the size.

Although it didn't reach a diameter large enough to damage the corridor, it definitely scorched it black.

And the bandits?

Three died.

And then Gray passed out from blood loss.

The two bandits, of course, saw this. They left anyway. These bandits weren't idiots to do something like try to repay the death of their 10 comrades. They knew that they had to abandon each other should they be a lost cause.

Their glee at being able to run away didn't last long. The reason for that being the ship's ability to detect them finally kicking in.

[SECTION-WIDE ANNOUNCEMENT]

A single, monotone voice caused the entire section to tremble as they dwelled in thinking of the strength associated with that voice.

["Kill The Bandits."]

The Section Guards went into action, scanning through each layer as the remaining bandits ran to the rendezvous point they agreed upon.

Reaching the rendezvous point, the bandits expressions turned ugly upon seeing their numbers not even a sixth of what they brought. Although they expected it, this being THE Venlier, it still hurt to have lost that many.

With a sigh, the leader brought their attention to him.

"Alright, we'll head to the ship now, don't stray too far o-"

He didn't get to continue speaking.

Nor living.

The entire room, was turned to ash.

"Cyrus. Control your strength next time."

"Ah~ Sorry, sorry, it was just a mishap with my calculation. Won't happen again."

Two people walked in and looked at the ashes for a second before completely ignoring it. One of the two, if Gray were here, would be recognised instantly.

It was a woman with hair that flickered like fire and burned in a white color before turning to a deep red and orange with yellow tips. Her eyes were like miniature suns shining upon everything she looked at. Her red lips seemed to draw you in. She had a rosy complexion and a satisfied smile brighter than normal lights, only second to a sun.

This woman was Seraphina Cyrus.

Origin Understanding of Fire.

Understood Co-existence Stage of Affinity with Fire, unknown what others she has.

Black Clear Potency / Purity of Energy.

Heavy Silver Physique.

Rank 11 Empress Hearth-fire Elf.

One of the few Higher Numbers, a slang for higher numbered rank members, that garnered respect from most of Rank 7 and some of Rank 6.

The reason was simple. Seraphina Cyrus is the 'Orb's Child', the one person in the entire Galaxy orb able to attain and hold onto TWO of her realms!

There are only 2,300 exactly of such beings in the orbs. When thinking about the population of all the Galaxy orbs, which were close to around - 1 times 10 to the 69th power - it was a significant number!

The person next to this being wasn't even visible. They were a mass of black smoke with glowing blue eyes gazing upon the hanger, which was being rebuilt in front of their eyes, with indifference and boredom. It was evident that the shocking sight meant nothing to this person.

"Tsk. Why must you ruin my fun Chichi?"

"Chimerisha, use my name, not the pet one, when we're in public."

"What public, there's no-one around us."

A new voice coughed lightly before speaking, bringing them into the conversation and shocking Seraphina.

"Your awareness is shit Sera, work on it."

"Yes master..."

Seraphina said dejectedly. Seraphina then thought for a minute before saying.

"I'll go check on my sister."

The two nodded, the black gaseous being nodding as best he could like that, and Seraphina disappeared, leaving only a small gust. Although, that small gust might just kill a random Half Ascended Rank 12.

=--=(The Infirmary)=--=

Gray's eyes fluttered before fully opening and seeing... nothing.

His expression was that of confusion before a realising look dawned on his face.

He sent a pulse out and noticed the four others in the room, which he assumed to be the infirmary.

One was Laine and another was Alicia, the last two were someone random, a nurse he presumed, and Marina, who was sleeping.

Suddenly, before almost anyone noticed it was kicked off, the door disappeared along with the wall opposite it.

By instinct and guided by memory of those habits, Gray spoke calmly as no-one else was awake.

"Sera, Mari is fine, calm down."

Seraphina, who was about to rush towards Marina, froze.

She turned towards the boy who spoke and raised an eyebrow at the sight.

The boy had long, turquoise-silver hair and looked to be 10 or 11 at 4'12", tall I know, with shimmering golden irises with amber flecks and a silver lining. The boy was gazing in her general direction.

Unlike what anyone expected, Seraphina snapped and the four others in the room seemed to have suddenly relaxed all their muscles. Gray knew they fell asleep. She then put an extra door, she carries them with her, into place and fixed the wall before speaking in response.

"You blind motherfucker you came back too.

EXPLAIN. THIS. BULLSHIT.

I CAN'T TAKE THE CONSTANT DEJA VU!"

Gray was, obviously, speechless. Even if he knew her, it was unbelievably annoying to hear her complain again.

Like old times.
