Bai Shuyin and the redhead prince ended up strolling through the busy market place, the white-haired transmigrator just a step behind as she thought it would be inappropriate for her to walk side by side with a prince. Wu Jiangfeng looked everywhere with eyes brimming with interest. "This is really interesting. My place is always so boring."
"There's no night market like this in the Land of Wu?"
"We do, just no street performers or entertainers like this, we sell books though, along with some paintings."
Bai Shuyin sweatdropped. "What a bunch of nerds." She mumbled quietly.
The two strolled from the west street market to the east. Crowds were bustling, knocking into them a few times. The smell of fresh food being made was really mouth-watering. They stopped by a stall that sold tanghulu and enjoyed the sweets, more like Wu Jiangfeng enjoying the treats alone. Bai Shuyin had politely declined when she was offered a bite.
Wu Jiangfeng pouted at first, but eventually munched on the sugar-coated fruits. Bai Shuyin stood idly on the side, waiting for Wu Jiangfeng to finish the calabash-like shaped sweets. She wasn't exactly worried or something at Wang Heiyue, in fact, she was just curious about what might happen. However, her prancing was interpreted wrongly by the prince.
Gnawing on the hard shells of the rock sugar, Wu Jiangfeng spoke. "Tell me about your brother."
Bai Shuyin looked over to him. "What does Young Master Wu want to know about?"
"Anything."
Bai Shuyin's thoughts were immediately filled with the images of Wang Heiyue. She started thinking back about how small he was, how tiny he was compared to the adult-version she read about. She couldn't wait to see how he would be met with a growth spurt that might spur him to impressive heights. He would grow even taller than Wu Jiangfeng in the future.
Since young, Wang Heiyue had a knack for physical training. His footwork was amazing, never slow and his movements were never stiff or awkward. His swordsmanship was unique, extraordinary. His wrists moved like they were born for it. What's more impressive was his inner strength, it was incomparable, above-average.
Last but not least, his facial features were on par with his talents. When bloomed into maturity, they grew out of the delicate boyish features and turned more masculine. His jaws were sharp and he supported high cheekbones. Orbs darker than abyss peered through obsidian lashes, casting shadows on his pale skin.
As her mind rolled, her mouth unconsciously followed, relaying whatever it was in her subconscious.
"You seem to really care about this brother of yours." Wu Jiangfeng summarized from the side, licking the corner of lips that was covered in sugar. He had finished the candied fruit and was now biting on the end of the pointy stick, treating it like a toothpick.
"Of course I do, he is the closest thing I have to a brother," Bai Shuyin said, a smile playing on her lips. The fact that Wang Heiyue was the first human she made contact with when she first transmigrated was never spoken out aloud. It would be reasonable if she said that she developed a familial connection with him.
"To think Young Master Wu would be interested in knowing about a servant like me."
"Why wouldn't I? Tell me, Xiao Bai, is it wrong wanting to know about the future Empress of Wu Continent?" Wu Jiangfeng's laughter is contagious, Bai Shuyin felt her heart fluttered at the sound of it.
"Young Master Wu really knows how to joke."
"That's because Xiao Bai looks really tense," The redhead prince threw his head back in laughter, before he stopped abruptly and asked with all seriousness. "Are you really worried about your brother? He isn't in any kind of danger, is he?"
"Well, he shouldn't be—"
Wu Jiangfeng suddenly held a hand up, interrupting her. Bai Shuyin watched eagerly as the redhead tried to sense his spiritual aid's whereabouts. The snowy-haired girl wondered how glorious it would be if he actually shifted.
It had to be breath-taking.
However, a sudden thought made her pause. Wang Heiyue shifted into a dragon, Wu Jiangfeng into a phoenix, then—
What would the female lead be? A tortoise or a snake? A mixture of both?!
Bai Shuyin felt a shiver run down her spine at the thought of it. She really wasn't a fan of scaly things, especially something that associated themselves with reptiles. Li Fantong just had to be both of those things.
"Found him."
"Is there anyone else?"
"You mean a little girl that kept on following him?"
Bai Shuyin nodded.
Looking at the younger girl's expression, a cheeky grin appeared on Wu Jiangfeng's face. "Don't tell me the reason you are worried isn't because your brother is in danger, but being snatched away by some girls? Is that why you are stalking him? Xiao Bai fancies her little brother a lot!"
A scowl donned Bai Shuyin's face as she fought down a blush at being called out. "I'm not… stalking, just doing an observation."
"Right… Just a mere observation…"
Bai Shuyin grimaced at the never ending grin on Wu Jiangfeng's face. Seeing as it would only be useless to make some convincing defenses, Bai Shuyin turned around and huffed, looking through the crowds enjoying the night market.
"Why do their faces look really familiar?" Wu Jiangfeng suddenly said from her side. "Especially this brother."
Those words made Bai Shuyin frown. Had Wu Jiangfeng met Wang Heiyue before? Besides the brief meeting during the noon. "That's probably because we passed by them before, outside the store…"
"Ah…" The redhead made an 'o' face and as if realization dawned on him, he asked. "Is that why you asked for my opinion on a girl before?"
Bai Shuyin winced inwardly, the whole conversation was going into a different direction. She meant to ask the phoenix about his impression on Li Fantong, yet he thought she was asking for Wang Heiyue.
Since the rice had turned into porridge, Bai Shuyin could only accept her fate being seen as an overprotective sister.
"Anyway, Is Young Master Wu done with his snack? Let me show you around."
Without waiting, Bai Shuyin randomly picked a shop and went into it.
"Aww, is Xiao Bai shy? There is nothing to be shy about!" Wu Jiangfeng chirped from behind, but he followed regardless.
To the eyes of outsiders, they would have believed the one with higher status was her and not the young man with flaming red hair.
