Chen Kai had taken a taxi back since he couldn't drive after drinking and had just used a cab to drop Lin Fei off as well.
Not far from his front door, he asked the driver to stop because he felt a bit dizzy and wanted to clear his head in the fresh air.
The driver had no objections, so he parked at the side of the road, and Chen Kai handed over a hundred-yuan bill.
"Keep the change."
Saying this, he staggered towards his front door.
Just as he was nearly home, he suddenly heard a rustling in the bushes. Chen Kai jumped, instantly sobering up a bit, and looked warily around. Given his recent experiences, he couldn't help but be more cautious than usual.
Soon, he realized he had been overly concerned as a black cat sprang out from the bushes. It was this cat that had made the noises, making Chen Kai laugh at himself.
"I've been so tense lately, practically seeing enemies in every shadow. If I keep going like this, I'll probably go crazy," he said.
